Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have a CEL P0455 and found this DIY while doing a search. The cars is a 2002 986 S. I've taken the car to two shops o detect the leak. One shop is a Indioendant Porsche shop. Was not able to if d the leak. Then2nd shop is a Smog certified and they performed a smoke leak detector. They were not able o find the leak. The gas cap have been changed 3x. The second cap was after market from the smog shop just o try. After driving 6 miles the CEL came on. With the OEM it took days before it came on. I'm on my 3rd cap which is another OEM. Could this vent line be culprit? Anyone else had this problem? __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here:

Usually if I can't find the leak, and the cap tests good, the EVAP canister purge valve needs replacement. Part number: 996-110-129-06-M100 - Casey

Yes it was the purge valve. I ended up taking it to the dealer to troubleshoot since I didn't want replace one part after another. I wished the reply would have been sooner since I was due a smog. I do appreciate the feedback
