Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi
I fancy new tailpipes, bigger than standard 996 C2, I quite fancy the four pipe tips which some 997's have, are they a simple fit?
Porscheshop said no, but I thought I would double check!?
Thanks
Edward
Ted, you can get 4 port tips for a 996 check here

No the 997 tips will not fit.
But there is another company who have dual tips as fitted to the 997 C2S which will fit the 996 models.
PM me and I will look for them for you.
Thanks Simon
Yes I really like the C4S style, but just cant afford them at the moment, I have seen copies on ebay for £110+ from Taiwan, but am not sure how good they would be.
How much bigger are the Fabspeed ones than standard? are they more visible?
My Car is a 1998, I have read some places saying "tips for 2001+ cars" - is there a different fitting after this time?
Thanks
Edward
I have had the 2 pipes overlapping style fitted to my C2 (genuine porsche parts) and I think they stick out too far from the bumper when you look at the car sideways on. From the rear they look great. I can't say i'm thrilled with them though but they were so expensive including fitting i'm not taking them off again and paying to refit the old ovals. I was told this is because they are a universal tip for the C2 and C4 but the C4 bumper is deeper so on the C2 the tips do stick out further.
Thanks for this, for the record could you clarify what is different for the fitting for 3.4 and 3.6?

Part of the 996 facelift was a deeper rear PU. The silencers are mounted exactly the same, pre and post facelift, so they made the exhaust tips with a longer vertical pipe for the deeper PU. Facelift tips will fit your car - but hang down about 2-3 inches too far, and look very odd.
