Suggestion

I increased it to 1.4 on the way home, and it was more to my taste, but as expected this unit doesn't seem to change tip-in "compression" unless you change modes (1.x vs 2.x).

Jegs is drop shipping from vendor so I I suspect they’ll ship whatever the latest is but wanted to check what P/N others have used without issues.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Looking to get a Spring Booster for my 987.2 and I see that springboosterusa site shows this was the compatible one https://www.sprintboosterusa.com/product/sbpo0013s-sprint-booster-select-v3/ Alternatively Jegs sells SB for $10 cheaper with free shipping but the P/N on their website 583- SBPO0003S : https://www.jegs.com/i/Sprint-Booster/583/SBPO0003S/10002/-1 Does anyone know the difference between the two? Jegs is drop shipping from vendor so I I suspect they’ll ship whatever the latest is but wanted to check what P/N others have used without issues. Thanks in advance

POST 2Original post

I'm confused.. your first link doesn't seem to work. I get a 404 error. When I went to their primary site it appears SprintBooster doesn't sell direct. Do they? And JEGS - sells the sprint booster for $10? with free shipping? What a deal!

POST 3Original post

Ah - found the link for sales direct from Sprint Booster - you need the entire link: SBPO0013S - Sprint Booster Select V3 - Sprint Booster USA Looks like it's $10 more than from a resale vendor. Are they drop-shipping? Dunno - but I believe my SprintBooster which is about 6 years old at least is a model-3... I haven't seen anything about an update.

POST 4Original post

Yeah, realized when I put the P/N in bold it broke the link. Thanks for catching that and the confusing wording — both have been corrected in the original post. I might just bite the bullet and order from Jegs. Will update the post when it arrives.

POST 5Original post

FWIW, I bought this instead: Amazon.com That was based on another user's review. For my needs, this one works great, and is stupidly easy to install. I realize it's probably not as "good" as the SB, but it's good enough for me for sure.

POST 6Original post

Interesting and good to have options. I ended up ordering that SB from Jegs after they sent me another $20 off coupon when I had the page loaded but didn’t proceed to purchase.

POST 7Original post

I'll be quite interested in hearing how it works. It seems like it wants to do everything for everyone, hopefully the useful modes are easy to determine. My SB - set it and forget it, I haven't changed it in at least 6 months. I'm also curious where you end up mounting it..

POST 8Original post

The modes are easy to setup, and it remembers the last setting, so it's set-and-forget as well. I use it on 2.2 = Sport and 2 (of 9). 1.x is "normal" mode, 3.x is "race" mode. I agree it does feel like it's primarily just compressing the mapping, whereas people say the SB is better than that. I'd love to try it out. I mounted mine to the right of the steering, on the dash. You can see it here below and to the right of the steering axis, just above the cruise control stalk: Again this works well enough for my needs, but I expect the SB might be a smoother device. Maybe we need to meet up and try each other's setup to see what they feel like - a good direct comparison would be nice to feel. I may be traveling down your way soon for a customer... maybe we can actually make a meet up happen!

POST 9Original post

Sprint Booster is in and I had forgotten what a nice improvement it is — had one in my 987.1 and can’t believe I waited this long to install another one on this car! Jegs drop ship turned out to be next day delivery so what was a nice surprise and as for installation channel locks are a must: push down on the grey tab till it bottoms out and pull up the plug . Struggled trying to do this with my fingers for an hour, gave up and went to Home Depot to buy myself a nice set of pliers and took literally 2 seconds to remove the connector with those.

POST 10Original post

Just wanted to provide an update. @deilenberger and I got together a few days ago and I got to try his SB on PDK versus my Amazon one with my manual car. I normally drove at 2.2, which is "sport" mode, level 2 (out of 9). I admit this is a little twitchy at tip-in, which Don agreed with, and he felt was too aggressive. I switched it to 1.2 for him, and he was much happier with it. Based on that , I left mine at 1.x... it's much less twitchy for sure. I increased it to 1.4 on the way home, and it was more to my taste, but as expected this unit doesn't seem to change tip-in "compression" unless you change modes (1.x vs 2.x). I drove at 1.2 for a while, and raised it to 1.4... I may consider going higher at 1.x, but we'll see. I do want a bit more response at tip-in... like a "1.5" would be nice, but you can't do that, of course. I'll try a higher second value, to see if that helps and see if that gets me what I want... In comparison with Don's SB, I do agree the tip-in is better on there... it's more like the "1.5" that I'm looking for. But, like I said, I can get used to the 2.x setting if needed... I was doing fine with it before trying Don's car!
