Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

Suggestion

So if you think your idle is a bit low, say around 600rpm and you feel that the car may stall as you pull away, when you stop at a traffic sign, simply put your AC on the lowest setting and it will rise to the correct setting of around 700rpm.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Thanks for sharing that video. @6:48 - 15,000mi intervals between oil changes? No thanks.

POST 3Original post

That was cool. As Hurley says, "...just drive it...".

POST 4Original post

I have removed the engine on the 996, done an IMS job, even removed and refreshed the heads. I'm embarrassed to admit I actually learned a couple things about my car from that video. No idea that it had an auto-closing window function.

POST 6Original post

Another snippet of info that most owners may not have noticed about the 996 is when you switch on the ignition the lowest setting of the AC will start up. That does not matter if you have switched the AC completely off before switching off the car. So if you think your idle is a bit low, say around 600rpm and you feel that the car may stall as you pull away, when you stop at a traffic sign, simply put your AC on the lowest setting and it will rise to the correct setting of around 700rpm. I leave mibne on the lowest setting as I figure PORSCHE has that AC coming on for a dam good reason. That's the first setting of manual control, even though your F reading is at 60f or 80f. It doesn't matter where it is. It is the fan that brings the revs to normal for when you are idling at a stop sign. Hope that info helps someone out.

Odd that doesn't happen with my 2004 996.2 - my AC stays switched off at startup if it was turned off after a previous drive. I have read of others having this issue somewhere before... is yours a 996.1?

POST 9Original post

Thanks for the vid. Mine is in winter mode right now. I get it out once/month and run it around a bit. Can't wait until I get it out for good for this year.

I think mine is a May 1999 model.
