Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone else's single cd player sometimes skip over sharp bumps or is it just my car? If the cd player is faulty it is probably the dampers under the cd drive that are at fault. Where can I send the unit for repair?

POST 2Original post

Maple Audio in Bath seem to be pretty good with PCM units. Address in the FAQ Supplier thread. Being our resident DIY enthusiast, you might want to take a look at this: http://www.renntech.org/forums/tutorials/article/248-pcm2-cd-mechanism-swap-due-to-ejecting-problems/

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you. Some dash and PCM 2 surgery is in order I think.

POST 4Original post

It might be the case that the cd lens is dirty pushing the error correction system into overdrive making it skip when you hit a bump. My first port of call would be a cd lens cleaner (assuming the discs are not at fault/scratched etc)

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Was hoping it was a dirty lens but mine also sometimes doesn't eject the disc fully and noisy when doing so. From richard's link it sounds like the other chaps faulty drive.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

With nothing to lose, I tried the lens cleaner again with some residue-free electrical contact spray on the bristles and the skipping over bumps seems to have stopped. Result!
