Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What's the best battery and is there a link for me to watch how to DIY this on YouTube or via the forum. Is there any clever trickery needed ?
I promise to post a nice piece on the targa for you all .
I've only just got it and love it.....

Even though it's mentioned in the thread, and several others if you search for them, before you remove anything turn the ignition key to position one.
Various batteries are favoured, including Bosch, oh and Tanya.
Bosch S5 battery ..
Turn the ignition on so that all the lights are illuminated but engine NOT running .. this is NOT required on a 997 .. on a 996 failure to do this will trigger the alarm siren .
10mm spanner and undo the battery negative lead .. RHD and this is on the o/s or right side of the car .. tuck the lead to the side .
Undo the positive lead and again tuck it to one side .
Unclip the battery vent pipe if fitted .. it pulls straight out .
13mm socket , extension and ratchet .. undo and remove the battery clamp on the o/s of the battery .
Place a towel or wing cover if you have them in the front boot and on the plastic cover in front of the battery .
Climb in and sit on the plastic cover .. if your 25 stone then perhaps don't do this
You have at this point protected where you are standing and the plastic cover .
pull the battery to the drivers side and a side to side motion as you lift it upwards and onto the towel .
Step out of the car whilst holding the battery .
refitting is a reverse of this .
I will say .. safety glasses would be best .. whilst its extremely rare for a battery to blow up i have seen it once .. battery was held at an angle and due to low fluid the plates shorted and it blew up in the mechanics hands ..
very rare but googles are what i would suggest .
A quick drive will reset any warning lights .. to reset windows you close each one .. release then hold them closed for 5 seconds .
radio code if applicable needs entering .
Throttle will sort its self out but ignition on and don't touch anything for 30 seconds .
We undo the negative lead first as if we did the positive and the spanner happened to touch the chassis .. any metal .. its a dead short .. spanner will glow orange in about 0.5 seconds and you will have serious burns ..
negative first and last basically .
