Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Two garages have checked, one just cleaned the sensor the other, a Porsche specialist, changed it.
Leading evidence: 'Clean sensor the other, a porsche specialist' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Yeah.....the clean was on a receipt before i picked up the car and the Porsche specialist replaced the sensor along with some other work I was having done.

Any suggestions on where to check for cable issues?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I keep getting a P0343 for the bank 1 cam position sensor. Two garages have checked, one just cleaned the sensor the other, a Porsche specialist, changed it.
I still get the fault. I clear the code, run it for 30 mins and it's fine and then it pops back up as a pending again. It is intermittent. This has been on going for a year, I've just put up with it, but want to get it sorted.
Any suggestions on where to check for cable issues? I can see the cable run over the back so not that accessible.
None of this is aimed at you ..
Fault code info is below .. at no point does it say replace the sensor or " Clean it " ..
God knows how you clean a sensor encased in plastic .. it's a magnetic based sensor with a metal wheel with gaps that generates a voltage depending on the metal or gap size on the wheel .. in this case on the inlet camshaft .
Sometimes i do sit here .. read a comment and start banging my head against the desk .. fault code says its a wiring issue .. short to B+ would indicate the signal wire is getting a 12 volt feed at times .
yes its intermittent .. most faults are in these circumstances ..
Ok .. if it was me .. i would run a bypass on the wiring from sensor to DME then r/t .. depending on the usual occurrence of this i would either drive myself or give it to the customer to monitor .. if the fault doesn't happen then again then its a wiring issue .. if not we move on ..
Supply voltage to the sensor is next followed by a faulty DME ,, we eliminate one bit after another until we are left with the fault basically .
Clean the sensor .. lol .. sorry .
bypass .. you cut the wires close to the sensor .. long enough so that you can rejoin .. you run new wires to the dme and do the same at that end .. enough spare wire to rejoin if needed ..
Not pretty but unless you want to replace a wiring loom then this is how we do it .
Final fix would be heat shrink over a solder connection with loom tape over that .
Depending on the model year there are 1 or 2 cam sensors .. B1 only and it's an earlier car .
Yeah.....the clean was on a receipt before i picked up the car and the Porsche specialist replaced the sensor along with some other work I was having done. It's a 2003 C2. There is a second cam sensor on bank2, but no codes from that so far.
Would you test from the connector in the engine bay, or all the way back to the DME?
