I have checked the motor fan and it isn't for that, I have also checked the front bumper and it isn't a sensor for that either.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Excuse me ALL, this may appear a silly question but I can't seem to find in the Driver's Manual what this switch is for ? It doesn't appear to do anything when I switch it on. Can anybody tell me please. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Passenger ejector seat. Looks like an after-market switch fitted for something.

POST 3Original post

Never seen it before either, agree it looks aftermarket. Happy hunting

POST 4Original post

I had the same switch but fitted to the bat wing. It was linked to aftermarket parking sensors in the front bumper.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you very much for your comments below. Must be an aftermarket switch. Can't see any sensors on the front bumper . Having looked in the luggage compartment I see the cables in the photo below, I also have a little device called " RoadPilot " which attaches to a holder on the dashboard, Could be it anything to do with that ? I hooked it up but it's showing " Offline " and their web-site is no longer available. Can anybody help please ? Thanks

POST 6Original post

Photos look like CD changer. Roadpilot was a camera detector.

POST 7Original post

I had a Road pilot in my Lancia Integrali. Are you sure there is nothing in the front bumper inlets?

POST 8Original post

The Metal box is your amplifier, looks to be the factory one. Those cables look to be wiring for the factory CD changer that has been removed. see: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-2002-...r-Wiring-Harness-Connector-Loom-/164469382051 That panel the switch is on can be removed by taking off the fuse panel cover and undoing the 4 Philips screws, if you take it off perhaps it may give you some indication of what it connects to but simply it's going to be a power switch for an aftermarket accessory. First check if the roadpilot turns on with it off then any other known aftermarket items in the car. Could also be for something no longer in the car but left in rather than leave a hole there on removal.

POST 9Original post

I had a switch like that in my C4, mine was a aftermarket override for the engine fan, to be used if you where sat in traffic etc

POST 10Original post

Yup it was and yes that's what the leads look like to me .. Amp and i'm not sure it its standard .. looks a bit short to me but may well be a standard amp .. i would need to see the wiring connections to be sure . switch is an aftermarket item and a generic one so it could be for any aftermarket item .. usual use was for an alarm system though ... valet mode . same switch on the seats and aftermarket seat heating .. should have 2 stages though .

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Still Hunting to find out what this switch is for ? Thank you all for your comments. I realise now that this is an aftermarket switch. I have checked the motor fan and it isn't for that, I have also checked the front bumper and it isn't a sensor for that either. However, on closer inspection I noticed 2 sensors and a small device inserted in the front bumper. ( see photo below ) When I turn on the switch it comes on in Red for a few seconds, and then turns green ( see photo ). Could these sensors be anything to do with this RoadPilot ? ( Speed detection device ) As metioned before their web-site doesn't work nor does this Monitor ( photo below). Has anyone else encountered the same ? Thank You
