I would definitely check the MOT station what they are referring to when they say 'D' bushes (I'm guessing ARB bushes?).

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
Well the 996 failed it's MOT today on a few items, one being excessively worn rear 'd' bushes. Does anyone happen to know what part number or where the best place to get them from is? Are the Polyurethane ones any better, or am I inviting trouble on other parts?
Also need new front wipers should I go Bosch or OEM?
Thanks,
I would definitely check the MOT station what they are referring to when they say 'D' bushes (I'm guessing ARB bushes?). There's plenty of opportunity for wires to get crossed here with expense attached. If you are just using the car on the road stick with standard bushings. Note the bushes they're referring to may be part of an suspension component/arm etc. Don't go OEM either unless you've recently won the lottery and don't care
Wiper blades go Bosch as they probably make them for Porsche anyway.
Mark
Thanks Mark, I kinda thought it would be ARB bushes which are in the shape of a 'd', note your comment on opting for standard. Not likely to track or ride hard. I'll opt for these:

Cheers,
^ Yes, look good and they say for C4S. Shouldn't be too difficult a DIY job as long as the ARB bracket bolts and drop link bolts come out easily, but chances are they may be corroded so spray some plus gas or similar all round and leave for as long as possible. Might be handy having some replacement bolts just in case and smear the threads with copper slip or similar to make it an easy job next time!
Might be worth looking on YouTube at 996 ARB bush replacement. It never ceases to amaze me how much useful stuff there is out there.
Mark
Why not use poly bushes? They last much longer than old fashioned rubber bushes.
There are different grades, you don't need to go full on track hardness.
Mine are the purple Powerflex, don't feel harsh and should last for years.
As for wiper blades, the cheap EBay Aero blades out perform standard blade Bosch and are under a tenner a pair, delivered.
It's a similar argument to tyres and oil. What was recommended 20 plus years ago, is not necessarily the best for the car now.
Technology has moved on. There are now better alternatives to Pilot Sport 2's, Mobil 1 and rubber ARB bushes.
Poly bushes are great if you are fitting them on a pivot point. In the 9x6 9x7 application the bushes are part of the moving suspension arm and are clamped by the mounting clevis to the metal core bush of the sub-frame or the tuning fork so the bush and bolt do not move relative to each other, the rubber makes the movement. In some other suspension systems the bush moves on the bolt as a pivot and in these cases a stiffer bush only increases the load on the suspension arms by a fraction. If you put in a less flexible bush, the load on the coffin arm goes up, hence failures. If you want harder mounts you need to got to spherical joints or similar.
