Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had one of my wheels repaired and refinished. Does anybody else notice the difference? The refinished one has no tire.

POST 2Original post

Maybe its the angle but the center cap on the refinished wheel seems to be different than the wheel itself.

That's the first thing I noticed too.

POST 4Original post

The refinished wheel appears to be a bit of a softer silver, at least in the pics. I've always done the wheels on the same side when I needed one refinished. Matching an aged wheel finish perfectly, even one in excellent shape, can be challenging.

Thats what Im noticing too. It looks to be a different silver. Im hoping the wheel repaired shop can make it right.

Metallics are really hard to match and usually have to pay a premium or the F u Price to get it done correctly. Think the natural patina of the other 3 will always look differently. Typically theyll match the center cap due to paint aging, with the only concession that plastic doesnt show the same as metal when painted. Overall its not a bad finish and Im extremely picky.

POST 7Original post

Had a wheel refinished. It looks different than the others for sure but only to the knowing eye really. It is not noticeable while driving down the road. The new finish will also wear in ever so slightly. I wouldnt bother with the shop. Damn near impossible to get it perfect matched.

As others noted, the finish looks good, just a shade off. I'd consider doing the other wheel on that side and call it a day. I did the same on my Elise with that mist silver wheel finish that is impossible to match perfectly.

POST 9Original post

I think the refinished wheel is just glossier, because it was just refinished, and the clear coat is newer. I think that will age in time and not be so noticeable. But Id make sure they clear-coated the center cap the same way as the wheel itself. That stands out to me more than the difference between wheels.
