One was heard to say to the other: "That's beautiful, that is...." and I suspect a demonstrator is going to get ordered in my colour scheme!

The dealer recommended 500 miles at under 4K...avoiding constant revs too.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

32 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Nice colour Look forward to seeing it in the flesh at BTaP. Hope you're going to ring Manu for a nice sports exhaust as well, to release the full flast six yowl Cheers Dom

POST 2Original post

Looks the same colour as domsters face after a recent outing

POST 3Original post

Great, great car. Superb colour and the wheels finish it orf perfectly. Utter, utter joy. Delighted for you, Sir!

POST 4Original post

Very nice! What I want to know is how you managed to arrange for the sunshine and light traffic today? Enjoy, as they say. Chris

POST 5Original post

Looks great Don......I think its the best colour! Look forward to seeing it at a future meet. Steve

POST 6Original post

Don Nice looking motor, good colour combo. Looks like some good options have gone on board (GT3 style alloys, spts seats, arctic dials, alloy h/brake gearshift etc). Out of curiosity does the clear "glass" between the seats come off or is it fixed? cheers DAZ PS - On an earlier post you mentioned the dealer said do 800 miles then thrash it. My dealer told me the same, 800 miles at upto 4k revs. However this conflicted with the advice in the manual which was 1,800 miles and 5k revs. I combined the two doing upto 4k for the first 800 then up to 5k from about 1,200 to 1,800 miles. Just an idea to check I suppose?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The glass comes out and has a little case...so you can stick it in the storage box under the roll bars. Never fear - I shall run the car in very carefully. The dealer recommended 500 miles at under 4K...avoiding constant revs too. The manual does indeed state 1800 miles "avoiding high revs especially when cold"...so I'll be jolly careful until about 2K miles..gradually increasing revs etc. Then I'm going to give it the Spanking it so richly deserves.

POST 8Original post

Well done my man !! Looks superb - now go buy that "proper" Zymol kit and keep that lovely colour in the finest fettle you can muster ! I recommend Titanium - used on Emma's and hasn't acquired a single stonechip since. Did you not have a deflector in the last one ? Have you gone for the full one with storage underneath ? Wheels look nice, and that's from Mr Seventeen Inches. Whatever....well done Don. The red on the hoops is inspired. And hey - get a look at this weeks' Autocar - 9/10 - "The best roadster money can buy". 'Nuff said.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you, Greg! I am very, very pleased with the car. The two sales guys at the dealers were staring at it as we went through the handover. One was heard to say to the other: "That's beautiful, that is...." and I suspect a demonstrator is going to get ordered in my colour scheme! Its all the clear lenses that do it. Previous model year Boxsters have the orange lenses which I think worked better with Silver and the darker colours than red and yellow. (IMHO!). I'm also pleased with the interior...they were trying to get me to "lighten" the interior with the aluminium pack...but I just did the gearstick...which (IMHO) works better. My old neighbour has his whole car Zymol'd professionally...yep...think I'll either do it myself with the kit or get someone in. No Armourfend for me though...don't like the "seams". Yes I have the full windstop and storage box - that's all part of the option. Same as on my last car. Have you ever seen a Boxster without the windstop/storage box...it looks *so* strange. Porsche put a net on the area as standard. But I've only ever seen one once - on a absolutely standard Guards Red Boxster with no options at all. >> Edited by Don on Thursday 24th October 07:35

POST 10Original post

watch out for the things that 'Drivel' didn't dare tell you about the clutch..........

POST 11Original post

Don, as an alternative to Zymol there are others out there as good. There is Zaino which though fiddly to put on gives better results IMHO. There is also Swissol which is awesome, I have been using it for a few months and it is fab. The agent for Swissol in the UK will also come to you for a day and bring your car up to concours standards. Rich

POST 12Original post

Looks gorgeous. Which red is it? I can't quite tell from the pics

POST 14Original post

Nice car Don! But take my advice - lose the chick.

POST 15Original post

V.nice - thinkging of getting one myself, and was also thinking of Guards Red - looks great! Enjoy Igg PS. Just how did you get the 'right' weather for your delivery day? Don't remember seeing that particular option on the Porsche options list.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Its on the price list as a no cost option. Apparently the feature is unreliable and not available in all markets.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oi you cheeky bu***r - that chick is worth a sight more to me than the car!

POST 18Original post

Don, what was on Mrs Don's face in the first pic....was it "Hmm, how can I saddle him with a TVR every day ?"

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No I don't think she's a convert, actually. She is beginning to think that it might be time to invest in a Tuscan though. Thing is she *loves* her Chimaera and whilst its going strong and we can maintain it - why not keep it? We'll see. She did like the new Porsche very much though...so I imagine it'll go into her work from time to time.

POST 20Original post

Car looks as great as I imagined. Those wheels look bloody great! Please run it in as soon as you can, I don't want to be hearing next week that its still not near its "hammering time". Congratulations mate, looks wonderful. PS. Please run it in as soon as poss. PPS. Oh, and just to mention, please run it....

POST 21Original post

Lovely car - Red isn't normally my cup o tea but that looks stunning.... Me and Mrs Jayteens have been pondering the next purchase and Boxster is top of the list at present..

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll do my best. Taking it to Cornwall this weekend - so that should get some way towards 500 miles. Still - got to keep the revs down until 1800 miles according to the book so it may not be going all the way up to 7000rpm by BTaP...we'll see.

POST 23Original post

I've heard that "Spanking the Boxster" can make you go blind. Glad the car is everything you hoped for, Don. >> Edited by JonRB on Thursday 24th October 11:44

POST 24Original post

Looking good, Don! So, just so I get this right... Is it any good?

POST 25Original post

Nice wheels Don, oh look, there like mine! Nik

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ooer. I'll just go and Spank my Boxster until its red all-over. Thanks, Jon.

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep. Thanks, Keith. Its great. We'll have to go for a pint soon and you can experience it. It still needs running in though...so a while yet before I can mash the accelerator into the carpet with abandon. Oh. But soon...........

POST 28Original post

Don, I'll keep an eye out for you in Cornwall over the weekend. If you see a lowered, cobalt blue S with GT3 wheels and the driver waving it'll be me! Very nice car - enjoy Tim

POST 29Original post

Don The car looks great, excellent colour combination. I look forward to having a poke round at the next meet. Oh, and look out for the wedge in Cornwall. I'm going down on monday. Enjoy. Gavin

POST 30Original post

On the subjt of running in, AFN advised me to keep my Boxster S below 4000 rpm for the first 2000 miles. It's not easy!

POST 31 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Too right! I have been keeping it under 4K up to the 500 miles. (Now done with my trip to Cornwall). I shall grdually increase the revs over the next 1300 miles. In the least 50 miles or so I've let it go to 4.5K - 5K but won't let it go over that until the 1800 mile point. But then..... On a journey tha car seems to be quicker than my previous S. More accelerative at lower revs (good thing since I'm keeping them down). Very refined but definitely has the proper sports car ride and handling - as I demonstrated to my Mrs over the weekend on Cornwall's back lanes. Marvellous.
