So this is what shows up
on my screen. I ended up counting 6 change over valves in the car and i see no wires cut or anything. Can anyone help out with this? What could be the issue or how can i find it?
You really need to get a
Porsche
specific reader, because generic ones don't get the message right all the time.
@deilenberger
has posted a good list of Porsche-specific codes her:
Diagnostics: - OBDII and Porsche Specific Codes
From there, you can see P0660 is "Intake Manifold Tuning Valve Control Circuit/Open Bank 1". I'd say that's far more helpful than the message you have so far.
This is an unusual error. I haven't seen it before, so it may take some deeper investigation, as I don't think you'll find much existing info on this here.
That being said, I also want to ask one more thing - how old is your battery? Has it EVER been dead? These cars are VERY sensitive to weak batteries... and this can throw all sorts of weird codes...
it’s a Porsche specific reader. It’s a iCarsoft por v2.0. I know i can’t really find much info on it and i’ve tried looking at my change overs and everything seems fine. the battery im not sure. I just bought the car back in november.
@schwinn
i think i found it. thank you!!
one of the cables wasn’t fully connected. it was just sitting in the place but it wasn’t connected. it was sitting on top so i pulled the wire up and it easily popped off the thing. so i connected it right and cleared the code and rescanned it and no more code.
Great catch! Glad you got it figured out easily.
I'm surprised the
iCarSoft
was giving such a vague response. I have heard it works well...
Battery
sounds good, too. Again, if it has ever been dead, then the date doesn't matter as much... but if it's been fine, then you're probably good there anyway. You don't have to put it on a tender... unless you store it for months at a time. I drive my car almost daily, so I don't need the tender myself.
Anyway, glad it's back to normal - good job! Any idea why it was loose in the first place? Was someone in there replacing something, and forgot to snap it fully in?
Hey I have the same code but have no idea where to look for these connections. I have
986
. 3.6L so has 996 induction. No cel, but I scanned with my durametric and caught it. P0660. There is literally nothing on the net as to where these are. Thanks in advance.
Anyone wanna help a poor guy out? Any pictures or diagrams would be greatly appreciated. To this end, the conversion to a 3.6 wasn't cheap despite me being under impression it would be largely
plug
and play.
This was okay because initially, the throttle response was super crisp and I was very happy. I have Durametric and I am running the
Softronic tune
specifically for the conversion. Of note, we had to go back and tweak tune because the car lives in the mountains at 7500'. Scott, says once the tune is in the
ecu
, it cannot escape.
However about a week after we had things dialed in, I had the induction air tube disconnect from the TB when I was driving and from that point forward, the car simply didn't feel as crisp or responsive.
I had the ability to reload the tune as often as I wished--but this has now changed because Scott no longer supports the tune as a stand alone file on my computer. I checked MAF, checked anything that could have come unplugged, cleaned TB and since then (2yrs later 10K miles, changed plugs and coil packs. The car still feels soft and the motor was a low mileage 3.6 with compression tests provide (and verified) that were excellent. It burns no oil nor coolant. When I go to blip, throttle, it is lazy. It almost seems as though we lost the altitude tune or that there is something like the P0660 which I only saw this weekend--so I have no idea how long it has been there. The car idles perfectly and RPM's drop once warm like they should. I am at a loss.
Where would one go to compare loggings of all engine parameters to compare to an optimally running 3.6? I only know some basics.
From the All Knowing source:
P0660
Electric Tuning Flap
Diagnostic conditions
- Power supply voltage
> 7 V
- Engine start-up and subsequent engine running
> 10 s
Possible fault causes
- Short circuit to B+/ground or open circuit in the control line
- Open circuit of power supply to tuning flap solenoid valve
- Tuning flap solenoid valve faulty
- DME control module faulty
There'ya go. Some things to check..
