Recently I've noticed an issue where as when the car has been left and goes into sleep mode I have to use the key to unlock, where as before I have had a 10 second delay I know get the alarm sounding as soon as the door is unlocked (not even opened) so assumed this was a fault with the lock i replaced the lock with a new one checked the dash central locking button and the passenger door locks there all good.

Read a number of articles online but none seem to have a resolution to the problems, I'm awaiting a foxwell nt530 to check the system but is there something I'm missing??

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

You need to check for alarm fault codes and if possible the positions of the door locks .. with the tester i use that's under actual values or input signals . The alarm should give you 10 seconds to get the key in the ignition .. not every car does this but it should not trigger unless opening the door .. First thing i would try at work .. do a vehicle hand over using a tester .. its kinda like a reboot for the control units .

POST 3Original post

Mine does this, which I thought was normal. What I do is turn the lock to the lock position with the key, which seems to wake up the system. I can then disarm and unlock with the fob.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers guys, Just a little update to this the secondhand lock was also faulty so fitted one of the cheap pattern ebay ones for £24.80! Works a treat, The issue i think looking at both the old locks is the external micro switch thats actually worn out and full of lock lubricant too, which doesn't help! The switch has a hard plastic dome thats completely been worn flat over time, so looking at the construction of it I'd avoid putting any lube in there at all as it turns into grinding paste. So opening the door with the key I get 10 seconds or so then one beep with a pause second beep pause the the alarm going off.. So no upset neighbours in the morning...🙂

POST 5Original post

This is exactly what I have to do on mine and I thought it was normal... but I'll be leaving it as is as it isn't broken...just different!
