Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'd get a sachs 890nmclutch installed before doing any more pulls IMO.
Leading evidence: 'Install before doing any more pulls imo' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'worst thing you can do' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install before doing any more pulls imo' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Part of the repair work was to have the turbos rebuilt and billet compressor wheels fitted while I was there.

Suspected cause
Those turbos make a serious increase in torque and 6th gear pulls from low revs are probably the worst thing you can do.

So I wish to conduct further 'testing' before I pull apart a car that doesn't need it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Was out in the turbo today and thought I'd give it a bit to double check that the clutch i though was goosed was in fact still goosed. Car pulled like an absolute train.
So I wish to conduct further 'testing' before I pull apart a car that doesn't need it.
Part of the repair work was to have the turbos rebuilt and billet compressor wheels fitted while I was there. My understanding is that they should spool up quicker due to less rotating weight.
So what I want to know is it safe enough to do some hard pulls? The AFR etc will compensate for the earlier spool up? As far as I know everything else is bog standard
I'd get a sachs 890nmclutch installed before doing any more pulls IMO. At least you know you're making good power - the issue is if the clutch slips you can inadvertently cause the engine to over rev
It's a little more sensitive, but you soon get used to it.
I find reversing a little more difficult. Weight is a little heavier.
Did you get it remapped and bigger injectors fitted?
Be cause you need them and a better set of intercoolers.
Sachs 890 little more difficult to modulate and agree reverse a little clunky but easily manageable.
When my car was stock i do remember once on a cold morning after a long lay off the clutch slipping. Never happened again after that so it does happen but I assumed you'd remapped for more power with new turbos?
No there's been no remapping. The turbos were just rebuilt due to corrosion and as the chap was in there he offered me the option of billet compressor wheels so I went for it. Aside from that it's 100% standard
Take it out on a drive. When warmed up after 10 mins do a 6th gear pull from 50mph. If it slips its gone. If not you're probably fine but all consumables finite unfortunately :thumb:
Please don't dive this car until you get it remapped. Those turbos are massively different and you'll get a lean condition and damage your engine.
Get a new clutch and get it mapped. Those turbos make a serious increase in torque and 6th gear pulls from low revs are probably the worst thing you can do.
I'm glad you posted mate. I didn't think changing just the compressor wheel material would make so much difference.
To be fair neither did the company that rebuilt them, he purely quoted an decrease in spool time.
I'll probably need to let him know this.
