Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Removed the failed passenger side window regulator in my 2008 Cayman S . Part number listed on the regulator is 987.542.076.01 and a large R for right is stamped on it. Was this part updated at some point? Various Porsche parts sites like Pelican , FCP , SMC, etc.. are showing part number like 987.542.076.03 and 987.542.076.04 as "This part fits your 2008 Porsche Cayman S ". I plan to spend the $$ for the Genuine Porsche part with the hope I won't have to replace this again for another 16 years and want to be sure I am purchasing the correct part. Appreciate the help. x

POST 2Original post

That last number represents the version of the part that Porsche now provides - that number overrides any number for a part that preceded it. Ideally you want the part with the highest last number (some parts like coils are up to 29 or so..) The number increments if Porsche changes the design, or changes the vendor. Unlike other German makes - Porsche is unusual - they are continually improving their replacement parts, not selling you a part that will self-destruct just like the one you're replacing. BMW is notorious for not fixing defective designs.

POST 3Original post

Thanks for the clarity. I was hoping this was the case. I'll trust Pelican to send me the right part. Cheers.
