Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone, I know this has been asked before, but most of the posts I found are over 8 years old and mainly focused on US shops. Im based in the EU and currently in the process of buying a 1999 Carrera with a lot of wooden trim. While Im not a fan of the wood, the car is in great technical shape, and the color is my favorite. Some of the wood trim is in pretty bad condition, especially the inlay on the window defroster panel and parts of the side vents (which seem easier to replace, as theyre available in classic colors at reasonable prices). The Tiptronic shifter cover is also loose and will need replacing. The main issue is the defroster trim inlay it seems Porsche doesnt sell the inlay separately, only the entire panel, which is quite expensive. Im looking for good aftermarket options it doesnt have to be wood, as I plan to gradually switch most of the trim to Savannah or black. This thread describes the exact issue Im dealing with: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...-any-tips.html Id really appreciate any tips or recommendations! Thank you

POST 2Original post

The wood pieces are hard to find and often expensive. I have had pieces dipped to give them a wood look, mine was call hydrodip I believe but it varies. Its a cheaper alternative and keeps with a more original look. It is the same sort of service to use if you want to have wheels dipped or other pieces dipped to give them a certain look or pattern.

POST 3Original post

Craft customs. Google them. Cheaper than factory with OE quality but superior durability.
