If you are going to daily it then the millage wouldn't worry me with the new rebuild but as said I would like to make sure what was replaced, plus the interior / exterior looks well for its age so why go for it if its a straight as the photos.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Morning all. Still looking for my first 911 - this just showed up today.

Of course it has a huge mileage but with a full Hartech rebuild just completed hopefully this is fairly irrelevant. However the rest of the car could still be very tired given the mileage. I've found a local specialist who can do an inspection., but I just wanting to sanity check it here as the feedback is always very helpful.
Thanks, Jon
If you're planning to keep it a while and take on board that it might need other non-engine related bits doing it looks a great buy at that money.
Who knows, a lot of the other mileage related things may have already been done. A PPI will soon tell you.
Hell, if had one less pedal I'd be really interested myself.
Go for it
One word of caution ...... I've just checked the MOT history and the last one was done in November 2015 when the mileage was the same as it is now.
It looks like that's when it broke. :dont know:
Obviously that's not necessarily an issue but worth knowing.
Also, I've never seen a 996 that colour. It might be a respray. Again, not a problem if it's been done well - especially as it's an ace colour.
Thanks, yes that's was I was thinking - it could be a good option for a daily driver that I don't need to be too precious with. I just don't want to end up with something that ultimately looks and feels a bit knackered, even if it does have a well rebuilt engine.
So basically, pay the £200 to the local specialist for the PPI and see how I go?
hi,
I wouldn't discount it purely on mileage. Mine was a similar mileage and the car was in very good mechanical condition, there were lots of stone chips and it was very tight.
I have had the engine rebuilt, which for you is taken care of! I would see what is picked up from a PPI and go from there.
i think now these cars are starting to bought on condition rather than mileage, plus with a known expert engine build thats got to last.
You ideally want to know what was done with the engine and to what extent the engine was rebuilt, I saw one car for sale last week with "Hartech rebuild" in the description, it said new IMS bearing (same size as standard I assume) and one piston but because it needed a new head the bill was £8k
I don't think the 5 year period would necessarily put me off as the rebuild, recommissioning and servicing may well have addressed any potential problems.
My 996 is pushing 150k and has only averaged 2800 miles per year over the last 11 years and only covered 18 miles in one year.
Having seen some of the under car/engine bay pictures on here I'm surprised that mine looks mint in comparison to some cars on half the mileage.
If you are going to daily it then the millage wouldn't worry me with the new rebuild but as said I would like to make sure what was replaced, plus the interior / exterior looks well for its age so why go for it if its a straight as the photos.
The other area of concern would be the state of the suspension / bushes etc. as they have already put the work in at that mileage so I would hope that the PPI would do a good job of looking in these areas. With regards to it being laid up for 5 years the only other area that might manifest a costly issues after a decent run in would be coolant lines, but you could negate this by making sure this is noted / covered in the warranty they offer and just make sure you give it a good work in the first few months to pick this or other issues up so they can sort them FOC.
Have a spy at mine in the owners gallery. It's high mileage but with a Hartech rebuild and much more. I'm toying with the idea of selling and trying an M3
If it's had the full works from Hartech then I would go for it.
There is bound to be more money to spend on the likes of suspension, radiators water & AC, PS & AC pipes if not been done but if you can do a bit of that yourself then it maybe becomes a well sorted car at 20k.
...could be a right bargain...lovely colour, great spec, hartech engine and good price...if the condition is good and the car isn't tired then I can't see the downside?
More research on that car needed, the 'rebuild' was done '1000 miles ago' but the MOT history has a 5 year gap and as someone stated above had the same mileage as it's on now so was the rebuild done and then it sat for 5 years... or was the rebuild done more recently?
Worth checking with Hartech about what was actually done as a lot of adverts state 'full rebuild' but aren't actually the full 6 cylinder liners etc that consitutes a proper full one.
