Just had a look at my receipt £1354 is what I paid, I think £1800 or so is the price fitted by the OPC judging from what some other people paid.

That seems to have changed now: I turned up with my V5 and proof of ID and that was that (although that was six weeks ago and I'm still waiting for my pack in the post).

The car washes sound great but my nearest OPC is probably a 1 hour 20 min journey across London traffic so I'm reality it's probably not going to happen.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I have been looking around at the PCCM+ prices and the best prices seem to be in the EU eg from rose passion at just under £1100 inc delivery but ex VAT Does anyone know what the VAT and duty would be on that and any other fees to pay? Also would it need UK maps? Are there any cheaper suppliers in the UK for the whole package? Thanks Winny

POST 2Original post

You will get charged VAT and a random handling fee by the courier. I bought some IT kit from france for my business the other day. On 159EU I got charged £33.56 of government charges and £11.50 brokerage. The supplier agreed to refund the brokerage. No idea how the VAT was calculated as I cant see how it adds up as clearly more than 20% VAT. I will leave it to the accounts dept to sort this mess out. EDIT - there is 2.5% duty on top of this https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty I am assuming this is then applied at some sort of random exchange rate in UPS's favour along with their random charge for doing so. So much for the borderless free trade all the loonies promised........

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks that was my concern. I think the vat is on the cost of goods and duty combined but at what rate? Uk rate? Then I see the website adding vat at point of sale too so am I charged twice? Ok so what's the best uk price I have seen some places doing it for £1350 inc vat but not sure if that includes everything e.g maps and delivery. Anyone know of a better deal anywhere? Thanks Winny

POST 4Original post

Rose Passion will pay all UK duty on your behalf, so when you check out it will add the UK vat onto the price. 20%. You will not get charged again. If you have a UK vat number, your EOIR number (Economic Operator Registration and Identification Number) is simply your VAT number with GB on the front and 000 on the end, give them this and you will not get charged VAT at all and will have to pay it on your next VAT return.

POST 5Original post

I think that's how they used to operate but when I went to try make and order a while ago it no longer adds VAT for the UK only for EU countries so in the end to get charged a random fee for HMRC and this could be cheaper or more expensive than VAT in my experience it's a complete gamble what they decide an items worth, so I decided to get the parts instead from a mix between Design911 and my OPC. I got my PCCM+ from my OPC, think it was around £1300 or so with VAT which seems the correct price as rose passion once you pay VAT without the gamble of HMRC's valuation and fees. If you are part of the classic car membership or Porscheclub GB you can get 10-15% discount on that price which I wish I knew before placing my order.

POST 6Original post

Strange, I ordered a week or so ago and they paid all UK VAT. Maybe they have decided they can't be bothered any more? It is far easier to simply to let the couriers do all the tax collecting, but not great for the customer as many take the piss.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Did you have to pay duty as well? What was the total price shipped and did that include the uk maps? My local OPC are now quoting £1354 inc vat and maps which is better than their starting point of £17-1800 inc vat

POST 8Original post

Just had a look at my receipt £1354 is what I paid, I think £1800 or so is the price fitted by the OPC judging from what some other people paid. Maps are a separate SD card that costs about £100. If you are in no rush sign up for Porsche classic car register at your OPC. Free and takes about a month to get all your welcome pack and card but after that 15% of parts which knocks a good chunk off that price.

POST 9Original post

Don't want to hijack the thread but just wanted to check is the Porsche classic car register completely free? I looked into it and couldn't find a price anywhere but saw it included free car washes and some other stuff just seems too good to be true from Porsche who normally seem to consider a steering wheel as an optional extra.

POST 10Original post

You can also join the Porsche Car Club of GB. Costs about £50 and you get 10% off labour at Porsche. My OPC have a habit of giving it me off parts as well, which is handy. You also get £50 off per pair of tyres with Pirelli. And a glossy mag, of course. Richard

POST 11Original post

The union jack at the top now tells you estimated duty etc with the total to be paid in EU as a conversion of the GBP above in the checkout

POST 12Original post

Yeah Completely free, you tell your nearest OPC you want to join and they give you a couple forms to fill in and they ask you to bring your V5 as proof of ownership then about a month later you get your welcome pack in the mail with a metal card with your membership number, name, VIN and OPC your are registered with a book that tells you about your entitlements. They stopped giving out the keychains and now the magazine is one volume a year rather than two but the discount and free car washes alone are well worth getting it done. Still yet to claim a car wash, feels odd to call up the OPC to book in my compliments car wash. :floor:

POST 13Original post

Wow great to hear something is free! The car washes sound great but my nearest OPC is probably a 1 hour 20 min journey across London traffic so I'm reality it's probably not going to happen.

POST 14Original post

POST 15Original post

It seems to depend on the OPC. Brooklands is my nearest OPC and an annual oil change/minor service used to be a prerequisite of being a Porsche Classic member. That seems to have changed now: I turned up with my V5 and proof of ID and that was that (although that was six weeks ago and I'm still waiting for my pack in the post). When I ordered my PCCM+ their parts dept told me there was no discount with the Porsche Classic Membership but I would get a discount with my PCGB card. Perhaps the Porsche Classic discount kicks in if the OPC fits it? Ended up getting everything I needed: head unit, additional trims, cubby etc and maps for £1500 all in. Turns out I didn't need a couple of the cables (were for PCM2 users I had a CDR23) so I will hopefully be able to get a refund on these - around £30 in total.
