Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Currently, without the harness installed, if I get up to the 70-ish speed, where the orgininal spoiler would deploy, I get the check spoiler light on my dash.
Leading evidence: 'Replace rear deck lid' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check spoiler light' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

If it is only 2 wires, you can run the fan as "normal" and add a small light to "simulate" the 3rd brake light inside of the tail.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

For some other P-reason, it fixed itself in garage I have zero idea on what caused it or why/how it un-stuck/unlocked.
Hello Everyone,
I have a 2000 C2 that I replaced the rear deck lid with a fixed duck tail lid. This duck tail does not have a 3rd brake light. I am in need of finding a wiring loom or some sort of solution to retain the inner lid fan and light connected along with making the 3rd brake light that is under the rear window functional again.
Please provide any ideas or suggestions on where I can buy this wiring loom.
Do you have pics of the under tray? I have a ducktail but my car came with aero so the 3rd brake light on the upper part of the lid doesnt work. Heres how my fan wiring is run.
If it is only 2 wires, you can run the fan as "normal" and add a small light to "simulate" the 3rd brake light inside of the tail. It wouldn't show, and might be easier than a new wire loom. Dunno if this will work. I had a "stuck seatbelt warning light" on a long trip. Seat belt retract was stuck, could not get it out. I plugged the passenger seatbelt into driver side and got rid of the light temporarily. Strange driving without seatbelt on.
For some other P-reason, it fixed itself in garage I have zero idea on what caused it or why/how it un-stuck/unlocked.
YMMV
My vote would be for a stock harness rather than cutting/modifying any existing wiring.
996.612.070.04 (fixed rear spoiler with third brake light)
996.612.070.51 (fixed rear spoiler without brake light)
*Edit* I just saw how much the stock harness has gone up in price. Maybe hacking IS the way to go...

Currently, without the harness installed, if I get up to the 70-ish speed, where the orgininal spoiler would deploy, I get the check spoiler light on my dash. Once I turn the car off, it goes away until the next time I reach that 70-ish speed. I guess the system thinks I have a problem with my spoiler not deploying.
Mcshaw also makes a harness for a fixed spoiler but i dont think its set up for a 3rd brake light in the wing.
I have made one from a harness i bought from DC Auto. Just had to remove and splice a few wires. A Bentley manual has the diagrams.
I recall the wire came with the OEM wing, and everything was pure oem stock. I don't recall buying the wiring harness separatly. I guess
@TheChunkNorris
could potentially look at his harness to see how the wire are connected
but I didn't do any custom work/hack on the wiring.
Wow, they sure have!
I have two of them.
One on my current rear deck, and one on the deck with the taco spoiler in a box in the attic.
Maybe I should sell one of the harnesses and put the cash towards tires.
