Quickest way would be to disconnect the pipe at the top and then try and blow through it ..

in the summer we can have a pool of water under cars that have been running for 20-30 mins .

If the car had a blocked drain or was dislodged then i would expect a good 30 - 60 mins of the car running before the carpet there would get damp ..

Yes, ran the car for a good couple of runs (easily over 60 mins) with AC on low before I noticed the leak so maybe this could be the culprit.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all
I think this may have been done to death
already
so forgive me for another post on this.
Pulled the car from hibernation this weekend and found a small wet patch in corner of passenger footwell and wondered if you knowledgable folk  might be able to suggest what's causing from the pics and specific location.
It's only wet in the corner as indicated in pic :
I noted there is a pipe (as seen from another tread on here too) that I've pictured below and wondered what this was and if this could be the culprit:
Also to note the car hasn't really been wet for months (under cover in garage) so if it's water from outside (rain or wash), I expect this to have gotten in last time the car was out (several months ago) . Mentioning this as read blocked drains / door seals on other posts.
Could it be anything else, ie ac system etc, windscreen washer pipes etc ?
Thank you in advance :thumb:
If you have checked the front drain holes and they are clear you can rule out those as the culprit.. the wet patch seems to far away from the door to be a failed door membrane.. There is an AC pipe above the area you are indicating so that might be worth taking a look at
Regards
Johnny
Front drain holes then sunroof drain holes after that! also the doors have drain holes too built into the bottom of the door skin at the front, bit of strimmer cable should be able to unblock them, and also works for the sunroof drains.
Thanks all
Sorry but probably being stupid ( :? ) but couldn't see sunroof drains.
Is anyone able to describe where front and sunroof drains are and what they look like ?
Blimey another water leak issue .. must be winter
Your car has been in a garage for months hence its not been wet .. Did you have the car running with a/c before you noticed water there ?
That pipe is the a/c drain and you are basically pointing at the exit for it .
If the car had a blocked drain or was dislodged then i would expect a good 30 - 60 mins of the car running before the carpet there would get damp .. it is after all about 2 inches of foam at that point .
image below of an a/c drain on a 997 .. basically the same as a 996 .
My theory .. you had a water leak before the car went into the garage .. water has pooled in this area ..
This means it could be the door panel .. the battery drains or the foam panel over the heater matrix .
I would have a good look at the foam cover over the heater box as per the image .. mice will chew through this or it can lift and allow water into the area you have an issue with .
Worst possible case which i have seen on an early Boxster and only once .. the bulkhead seal has a leak .. that's a battery out .. a very thorough clean up and underseal along the seams to stop it .
I doubt that's your issue though .. been a one off so far for me .
Yes, ran the car for a good couple of runs (easily over 60 mins) with AC on low before I noticed the leak so maybe this could be the culprit.
Great, thanks will check this also.
Let's hope it's not that and one of the 1st two suggestions, however sounds like this is repairable if this is the case.
Thanks very much for the very detailed very useful response deMort

Logically if not parked outside in the wet for 3 months but has been running in the dry for 60 mins then its the a.c pipe ..
Remove the foam cover under the glove box .. cut off the pipe clamp ,, remove the rubber a/c pipe and blow through it .. refit using a cable tie or a jubilee clip but DON'T over tighten .. a cable tie will do just fine .
if the leak / water has been there for a while but not noticed then back to my original suggestions .
removing the carpet to get to the a.c pipe exit is a bit more of a mission .. you have to start from the door side .. remove door umbrella trim , remove seat etc etc .
Wow, cheers again deMort, most helpful!
If it is the ac drain blocked (even partially) does the water just back up and seap through the carpets?
Is there any chance pipe has been 'dislodged' (as you mention above)?
Also, just to clarify if blocked, I'd expect not to be able blow through the pipe?
Then unblock by posting pipe cleaner (or something similar) through pipe before re-attaching?
I guess I'll go with this 1st as easier to get to by the sounds of it and the wet area is specifically where you've highlighted the drain exit.
I think I'll attempt this at the weekend initially and then go from there.

Quickest way would be to disconnect the pipe at the top and then try and blow through it .. at work i would use an airline but i think you might just about be able to blow through it .
I doubt its a " real " blockage .. more a spiders nest sort of thing .
A check i thought of you could try after blowing through it ..
Place a bowl of water in the passengers foot well .. all windows closed and run it on full a/c for 20 mins .. you should by then see water dripping from under the car on the n/s .. or may be a bit central .. the water drips onto the under trays so will run out in that general area .
You can soon see if the carpet is getting wetter in that area as well .
If blocked then water would back up into the heater .. its surprising the amount of water an a/c can generate .. in the summer we can have a pool of water under cars that have been running for 20-30 mins .
logically with no fresh rain then its this or a coolant leak and you would have other issues if it was coolant ..
We do still have the possible issue of water has pooled at the lowest point from when it went into storage and you haven't noticed it .. in this case it's an old leak and the usual places can be the issue .
Start with a/c and go from there .
Again, many thanks deMort!
Really appreciate it
Re Coolant, are there hoses upfront there then ?
& yep, there is a possibility it's an old leak/patch unnoticed but seemed fairly fresh (carpet quite wet) and not stained.
I'll start at ac and report back
:thumb:
You have a heater matrix in the center of the car ( the bit that keeps you warm in winter , it's a radiator ).. if this leaks then you get coolant both sides .. you also get steamed up windows and the water is a sticky , sweet smelling substance .
It's not coolant
A possible but if so you haven't given me full details
Start with the a/c and we will go from there if needed .
