Suggestion

If you are going for small spacers, I just fitted these (they are actually 6mm) to replace some 7mm non-spigot spacers which were causing bad vibrations at 70-80mph as there isn't enough of the hub spigot to hold the wheel centrally.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 996.2 GT3, which is the standard body width as I understand. I'm thinking of putting spacers on the wheels to fill it out a bit. The wheels are factory standard. The spacers come in 3, 5 and 7mm. So two questions: Is 7mm too much at the back? The fronts look like they can take them. Will I need longer wheel bolts?

POST 2Original post

What's the size of front and rears and offset just now. Rears 18 x11 ET60 approx is fine for the back. Fronts 18x8.5 with ET45. I'd work to they figures to work out spacer dimensions and I'd imagine you'd be near enough on the money

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry, I think you've misunderstood the question... or I've framed it poorly. Everything is standard at the moment. I just want to bump the wheels out a bit so they fill up the guards better.

POST 4Original post

Pushing your rears out 3, 5 or 7mm won't really make much real impact, I believe you have 5mm standard which come with the appropriate bolts. I'd be look at at 10,12 or 15mm spacers which require long bolts (design 911 have loads of sets)

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's interesting. So if I understand you correctly, you're saying that the GT3 already has 5mm spacers and longer bolts. Is that correct?

POST 6Original post

Not 100% but I'm sure someone will confirm 👍

POST 7Original post

I have a widebody car, I don't think that makes much difference in this context. My car has hubcentric 15mm front ( Should be same front as yours I think) It has 20mm hub centric spacers on the rear. I think hub centric spacers will only be available once passed 12mm. 7mm and below are not really noticeable or have any positive effect you might be looking for (imo of course)

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just checked PET and up to MY 2002 had 5mm spacers front and rear. Later models did not, but had different ET wheels which made up the difference.

POST 9Original post

Yeah that makes sense, you have a 18" wheel that's 11" wide, your offset might be stamped next to the tyre valve ET .. I'm still sure you can get some spacers on tho 👍
