I think if you disconnect the battery for a minute it will "reset" everything and you can then, use your remote.

They used an inflatable bladder to separate the window from the frame, then slipped in a 'hook' to pull the door handle.

I know that after a set period of time the car will not respond to the remote and you need to manually unlock the driver’s door.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know that after a set period of time the car will not respond to the remote and you need to manually unlock the driver’s door. Unfortunately when I turn the key the doors do not unlock. The battery should be good and the security light on the dash is flashing. Any idea how I should unlock the car?

POST 2Original post

Need a little bit more info.. year I had my DS door lock break inside the door.... tow to the dealer, 10 days and $800 later. Parts had to come from "The Father Land"

POST 3Original post

I think if you disconnect the battery for a minute it will "reset" everything and you can then, use your remote. I am not 100% sure, if someone can chime in and verify???? Also, if you do this, you will need to have the radio code handy.

POST 4Original post

I have the same problem - lock mechanism broken. AAA came and opened it for me, but I wouldn't want to make a habit out of it in fear of damaging the top frame. They used an inflatable bladder to separate the window from the frame, then slipped in a 'hook' to pull the door handle. If I don't drive it for a couple days, it stays in the garage with the window cracked enough for me to get my arm in & pull the handle from the inside, just in case.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you for the replies, it’s a 2002 boxster s. The windows were not working properly so I replaced the mechanism that the houses the sensors to the door handles. Could this locking issue be related to that replacement.

POST 6Original post

It seems that it is easy to disconnect the locking mechanism while the door panel is off if you aren't careful, so this may very well be the case.
