Aloha from Hawaii
I have replaced my head unit with a
Kenwood
and used the adapter for the fiber optic cable to the
Bose Amp
. However, the sound isn't quite what I would like it to be. So, my first question, is it possible to add a separate amp and take the speaker wires from
Bose Amp
output side for the tweeters and two door speakers, connect them to an amp and then onto these speaker locations. I would replace the existing
Bose Speakers
with Morel Virtus 3 way component set. My thought process is to keep the rear speakers and sub woofer still being run by the
Bose amp
. I don't really want to try and replace them or install a new sub woofer at this time. This to me, seems like a simpler fix for better sound.
I'm open to suggestions, just trying to improve my sound, without breaking the bank.
Before spending money - do a little archeological research on your car. Pop the door panels off and see if the speakers are in decent shape. Is your sub working and is the speaker OK.
You can buy a
bose amp
bypass that will let you use the existing wiring. But - with the center channel speaker and buried crossovers somewhere in the car it might not give you what you're looking for. It's a small enough car with decent enough access through an existing port in the firewall that running speaker wire to feed replacements isn't too bad. I believe its CAI that has a harness made up to feed the existing self powered sub directly from a new head unit. The rears add so little to the overall sound I'd either power them from the new amp turned down or straight from the head unit.
I replaced my
Bose
with a
Kenwood
HU but also added an amp. I have my
Bose speakers
and it sounds great.
I replaced my
Bose
head unit using a NAV Kit210 as the fiber optic adapter and it woke the system right up. That's why my suspicion is bad speakers and I'm suggesting the digging before spending any money...
