Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suspected cause
Though I suspect more greed on the part of the OPC rather than depreciation of the Marque!!

Suggestion
That situation will change (finite number of cars/owners in that situation) and prices will stabilize and even go a bit up to where they should be and start following the basic principles of supply and demand

Suggestion
If I didn't really need to I wouldn't change my car but I do really need a Targa!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have got my 2000 plate c2 up for sale but due to them being worth 10 bob & a cracker at the moment i am considering keeping it as i love the car really but my warranty has just ran out and for a new one i'v been quoted £1200.
so my questions are:
Does anyone no of a good warranty i could take out doesn't have to cover everything just the main stuff like engine, gearbox etc, bearing in mind my car is nearly 9 years old.
Will the 996 go up in value or hold its value after we get out of this damn recession, when i see a decent condition 1989 964 with 120,000mls on it up for £15k, surely the 996 has got to be worth more than those!
If i keep it i am thinking of changing the turbo wheels for some black ones, any recommendations! see pic of car.
any way sorry for the questions but your advice will be appreciated.
How longs a piece of string?
Its almost an impossible question to answer, however its unlikely base 996 variants will rise in value. They may recover a little bit and not keep going down, where they've already crossed with the 993,964 and 3.2 Carrera.
Its likely that GT3s may well go back up as they are in limited supply and will be sought after
Problem with the base models is one of over supply, there are liteally thpousands of 996s out there.
You have the additional problem that many people wouldnt buy a speed yellow car (I would, I think its fabulous), and would prefer silver or blue.
With regard to warranty, I'd be off to Hartech and take out their monthly plan
It all depends on the individual. Why you are considering selling at the first place. If you are happy with your car and you are not short of money then keep it. Depreciation is just an academic question if you do not sell. Also how much do you value your personal satisfaction... ?
As a more general comment about prices the reason they are down is because a number of buyers bought them on borrowed money and now are unable to maintain them or they are worried and cash talks. That situation will change (finite number of cars/owners in that situation) and prices will stabilize and even go a bit up to where they should be and start following the basic principles of supply and demand
As for the warranty question I am not expert in the Porsche are but I have seen through the forums that some independent firms are offering some competitive products
I think your car looks stunning but I am biased and also own a speed Yellow 996 My advice would be hold ontoit and love it, as nothing else hits the spot. Far from being a stop to you selling the colour will increase your chance IMO, as with everything people will try and get the car off you for next to nothing and I am like you hoping a really good 996 will level out and rise in value???
Specialist companies like 911Virgin and Paragon were being offered cars at the rate of 20 cars a day as people panicked which was enough to knock the bottom out the market. Prices should creep back up when people return to the market but not to where they were and the ragged ones will continue heading south. Best advice seems to be to hold onto your car. I would question if a Porsche warranty is really necessary on older cars and personally would look at the plan offered by Hartech which seems to make far more sense ... and on the colour yellow
According to the financial press, the downturn will likely last a few years ie well into 2010 and possibly 2011 so this is not going to be a quick recovery. As the 996s will get older, I do not think that they will regain value but the depreciation will possibly slow down over the next few months or years. 996 turbo and gt3 in my opinion are the ones that will not face a too steep depreciation
Thats shocking! Though I suspect more greed on the part of the OPC rather than depreciation of the Marque!!
I bet they were just trying it on and would put that up with a £20k mark up at least!! Should be ashamed of themselves!!
Must confess to being in the same boat!
Lots of people will be fed up with me talking about this .. so sorry!
If I didn't really need to I wouldn't change my car but I do really need a Targa!
So as already mentioned ... why are you swopping??
Looks?
I love Speed Yellow! Go to a dealer and see them shake thier heads and go tut tut tut .. :dont know: :x :nooo: :frustrated:
I would wait till your tyres are shot then look at swopping to a nice set of Black ones .. Wheels not tyres! .. That strikingly/visually alters the car. Offset the cost with some ebay wheel selling!
Then a few minor tweeks inside. An Alpine/Kenwood double Din sterio, plus new speakers ...
well what more would you in all honesty be looking for?
Nowt wrong with saying I want .. XXXX AND XXXX .. hey if you can afford things go out and buy them but if you are counting pennies then well!
Hmmm Keep it! I love it!
cheers for the replies guys.
i was selling cause i just wasn't get use out of the car, done about 100 miles in 3 month, but now the weather is getting better things are looking up, i've done 200miles this weekend alone!
so now i'm deffo thinking keep it, drive it, love it
also i can't really think of a quicker, more reliable, better looking car for the money.
I'm trying to sell my Speed Yellow 996 C2 currently. I fitted Victor Equipment Black LeMans Wheels from the Porscheshop. Yes the market is bad and slow. But a Speed Yellow on the forecourt adds a bit of spice to the rows of silver, blues, greys, and blacks. So whenever you ask someone if they want to buy whatever you have at this time it will always be "tut tut ooh that's difficult" :wtf: .
Regards Big Bob
Good... I am glad you are not selling for the wrong/right reasons depent on how you see it.
Hope with the weather getting better you will enjoy it more. I am looking forward for my first summer on my 911 by the way
Must say these look good in yellow
With black wheels they look the dogs.
Seems to me that you are using your beloved porker for what the good Dr. Intended it to be used for Pair of ya!
Prediction:
This will be the collectors colour choice if the 996 ever becomes scarce enough.996 plauge eperdemic or something
Yep keep it! And errr drive it absence does not make the heart grow fonder in this case.
