Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Don't just check the service book, check each bill for what other work has been carried out.
Leading evidence: 'Check each bill' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check each bill' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

You may end up paying a couple of hundred pounds each for two or three inspections, but believe me, this can save you thousands in repair bills.

Also the conventional thing is to change the dual mass flywheel every two clutch changes.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I`ve been looking at 3.4 may stretch to 3.6 if there is much difference, i have no idea on what to look out for. seen a coupe on autotrader but before i go see them thought it may be in idea to get some advice.
The 3.6 is
ment
to have a stronger engine..
You looking C2 or C4 (2 or 4 wheel drive)?
Get out there and drive a few, you'll need a feel for them. I would check history twice too. Don't just check the service book, check each bill for what other work has been carried out.
Clutch should last 60,000 miles, as should the shocks..
Definatly a c2, If clutch hasn`t been done before 60000 is it something to worry about i.e cost of replacement. May have to test drive the different models to make sure. Thanks for your quick replies Daniel
The clutch can go anywhere from 20,000 upwards and will cost £1,500 at an Official Porsche centre (OPC). The main thing to look for is an oil leak from the Rear Main Seal (RMS) which manifests itself as a slight oil leak in the centre of the join between the engine and the gearbox. More critical is a leak from the intermediate Shaft Seal which is externally indistinguishable from a RMS leak but has the potential to cause a catastrophic engine failure. Conventional wisdom is to have the RMS, the clutch and the Intermediate Shaft Seal done at the same time as the gearbox has to come off for any of these and is a 6 hour job.
The coil packs are also prone to corrosion due to their position relative to the muck that gets thrown up from the road.
Also the conventional thing is to change the dual mass flywheel every two clutch changes.
As Daniel says, get an inspection done by a recognised specialist before parting with any cash. You may end up paying a couple of hundred pounds each for two or three inspections, but believe me, this can save you thousands in repair bills.
Good luck with your search.
