Hi I've fitted the nrg short boss today but seem to have a crunching noise when turning the steering wheel.

I initially installed without the NRG 1" spacer, but it was too close to the stalks, and not enough room for my fingers on the back side of the wheel,,.

I'm using the nrg adapter with a Momo wheel and it's great.

Do you recommend the nrg adaptor hub for Momo wheels as well?

So help needed, despite a few search attempts i cannot seem to reconnect with a how to on this subject, NRG has no instructions on there website, but there hub retains the use of the factory clockspring and therefore solves the intermittent horn issue.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Chaps,
I have my Porsche branded Momo that i got from Pelican... however i would like to get the NRG short hub SRK-189H i think is the part number.
So help needed, despite a few search attempts i cannot seem to reconnect with a how to on this subject, NRG has no instructions on there website, but there hub retains the use of the factory clockspring and therefore solves the intermittent horn issue.
Specifically i was hoping to read something on where do the wires that come out of the front of the clockspring get tucked, i am wondering if the resistor goes onto that weird Airbag plug or do i dismantle the column shroud and install the resistor into the yellow plug back there. if i do that i will still need two of the wires coming out of the front of the clockspring to work with the horn, ground and power is what i think they are, but then there is the front yellow airbag plug which is also on that small group of three wires i would rather not cut it off as i may need to revert back to the standard wheel at some point, is there room to tape it back on itself and tuck it inside the hub?
Many Thanks for any info in advance...
The nrg air bag resistor harness just plugs into the factory air bag plug. No cutting needed. Its a good piece and i use it with the omp wheel. Horn works fine.
I got a used clockspring (ebay) . I put the airbag resistor inside the column on the yellow plug. I cut the wires that were not horn wires off my extra clockspring and swapped that in. Made for fewer wires inside the nrg adapter.
I stored the original clockspring with the original steering wheel.
@De Jeeper
I've finally found a Momo wheel that I think I would give up my airbag 3spoke wheel for. They launched a 380mm Monte Carlo. In
murdered out 🖤
😎
I've resisted changing till now because I like the stock wheel size and the view through to the gauges. But 380 is the 8mm larger than the factory wheel. I like. Do you recommend the nrg adaptor hub for Momo wheels as well? Thanks!
I tried the momo hub and persinally i thiink it sucks. It looks fine in an air cooled but its very dated for our interiors. Its also long. The nrg us a real nice part that allows the click spring to stay and its plenty short. The omp wheel i have is 3" dished and its the perfect reach for me
Would an NRG quick release work with a MOMO hub? Also, how far would the steering wheel stick out? I don't want it in my face....just get a short quick release?
I have an NRG quick release with the NRG hub and a dished Momo wheel.
I need to slide the column all the way forward to be comfortable. I have long arms....
The turn signal lever is much further from the wheel than it was before. That takes getting used to.
If you have a NRG / Works bell short hub you need a dished wheel or add spacer / quick release to get it to clear the stalks
Short hub + quick release + flat steering wheel = OEM steering wheel position
Short hub + dished steering wheel = OEM steering wheel position
Thanks for the help guys! Ended up getting a 50mm spacer and everything cleared perfectly.
Gonna pick up some black screws and a Porsche horn button to complete the look.
Hi I've fitted the nrg short boss today but seem to have a crunching noise when turning the steering wheel. I've fitted the momo black edition steering wheel and kept clock spring . Any idea what could be crunching.
Happened to me twice. Either your clock spring is busted (first time) or the little metal spring-loaded arm is not releasing properly to allow rotation (second time).
So Im getting a Momo Heritage Indy that has 37mm dish. Is that considered "flat" or "dished"? Trying to figure out whether I need a quick release in addition to the NRG hub, or maybe just the MOMO Eccentric Spacer
For those wanting to know, maybe this will help...
Momo Indy wheel with 37mm dish... Momo Heritage tobacco horn button...Installed using the NRG short Hub, NRG, 1" spacer, and Momo eccentric spacer, which moves it up so it doesnt block the top of the tach. I initially installed without the NRG 1" spacer, but it was too close to the stalks, and not enough room for my fingers on the back side of the wheel,,. my hands would hit the blinkers and wipers when turning.....
Wheel attached to Eccentric spacer, attached to NRG 1" spacer, attached to NRG hub. I had to buy some longer bolts to attach the eccentric spacer and NRG spacer as one to the NRG hub, otherwise the wheel wouldnt have centered holes to attach it to and it would be off center.
The lower stalk is for the OBC, its closer to the back of the wheel than the wipers/turn signals
