Hello
Georg from Norway here. New to this forum, so hello
Purchased a 2009
Cayman
2.9 from
Porsche
Zentrum Pforzheim last year. The car has been a demo car for the factory. Any how, it came with a standard
CDR-30
and sound packed plus.
I'm happy with the CDR so far, but I'd really like to play my music and charge me
iPhone
5 trough it.
So I had a quick check trough PET and found out, so I think, that the only thing I need to install a original USB/AUX/
iPad
connection, is a cable and the original connectors. The ones that usually are located in the center Console
The parts have been purchase and I'm planning on going trough with the installation this weekend.
My Big Q is, will this work? Have any one tried this before?
I know that
suncoast
sell the same parts in one kit. I ordered these parts trough
Porsche
center Oslo, here in Norway
Note: when I bought the car from
Porsche
, they said they had done several similarly jobs before. Total cost, around 500 Euros.
Hope some one cane help me. Whether it's by letting me know it won't work ore it will
Thanks! -Georg-
I got my car yesterday, same spec. Interested to hear the answer to this question.
This is my third
Boxster
, but the first one that doesn't have
PCM
. but the rest of the spec was so right, I thought, how bad can this
CDR-30
be?
I would also love to put my iPod through the system with song titles on the screens etc
Mine already had the universal audio interface, but that is simply an audio jack. No proper integration.
You might try posting in a more general forum or also in the
911
forum since other models use the
CDR-30
.
However, getting the songs titles on screen from the "universal" headphone jack wont happen. iPod, and phone integration is seriously lacking with
Porsche
. So I usually just listen to the engine.
I use this cable with my CDR30 with universal audio interface to connect my
iphone
and charge it at the same time. ( 12v to usb adaptor required also to power the cable.) It does not provide any control of the music through the CDR30 but it DOES fade the music when a phone call comes in over the Bluetooth. It does also allow google navigation directions to be heard over the cars speakers. Simple and it works.

If I understand correctly you have the ports in the console that has the USB? If yes you do need the cable. This however only works on the I-Phone 4. For the I-Phone 5 you just need the APPLE adapter. Works perfectly and displays the same as the 4 and charges.

Hello guys, thanks for great response
I have both the cable and the connector.
The cable has part nr: 997 612 049 75
The connector I will have to check. It's in my car, witch is stored away for the winter
The connector dough has all 3 ports. USB,AUX an S-video (ore it looks like a S-video connector)
I will try to post a picture on money from my work computer. I'm on the
iPad
at home :S
Any how, the most imported thing for me is just that I can play music from my
spotify
. I don't need to get all my phone nr on the CDR. Neither is it imported for me to be able to change music on my
iPhone
true the CDR
I will try to start installing the "kit" son. Right now my car is packet in between a 993 RS and a 996 Cup car... So it's not that easy to open the doors hehe
Cheers guys, have a nice weekend
