Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm having a nightmare trying to close the centre console oddment tray cover. Every time I try to close it the lid just pops back up again! Can someone please tell me how to adjust it so that it won't set my alarm off!? Thanks! Adrian.

POST 2Original post

:?: Sorry to state the obvious but have you checked that the lock isn't in the lock position? Ray :bandit:

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Ray. Yes, I have and it isn't. I've tried to manually push the black plastic mechanism down (to close position) and it won't stay down. I'm not sure if it's meant to stay down without the other half of the mechanism (attached to the lid) being where it should be. Short of standing on my head, I've tried to push it closed from every conceivable angle - but no good! :dont know:

POST 4Original post

Hmm - I just find that a percussive approach works for me : just give it an assertive slam?

POST 5Original post

Until you get it sorted to stop your alarm going off simply weigh it down with something. Pete

POST 6Original post

Not too keyed up on the 997 interior layout :dont know: Just to cover all aspects though, My 993 ashtray would not stay closed for wks. Drove Me mad. Then eventually for no reason a screw fell on the floor. Must have worked loose & jammed the mechanism. Works perfectly now

POST 7Original post

It's a 996 interior he's talking about....! Only solution for now would be to press it down and then lock it with the key. ~ Maxie

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. I'll see what I can do....

POST 9Original post

I'll second that, I have to give mine a hefty slam too TB
