As a test, I popped into a local MOT centre that I had never used before, and asked could they check the lights on the pretext that I was worried about beam alignment affecting upcoming MOT.

I was looking into adding HID Kit to my 2001 Facelift 996 Cabriolet, was looking in particular at HIDS4U ( other manufacturers are available ) and also upgrading High Beam with Phillips Extreme, and Front Fogs with Osrams. I am uncertain which manufacturer, and which Bulb spec to go with. .... anyone got any definitive information ? Image
I'd recommend you get in touch with Alan at Aceparts - he's a Porsche enthusiast and will usually do a good deal. Myself and others on here have used their kit. See "HID upgrade" (http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=253934) for more details. Bulb is H7 btw.
Thanks for info Diesel130 ..... Aceparts unable to supply at this time .... Do you know whether the Ligghts on Nov2001 Cabriolet are Reflector or Projector type, each seem to have its own Bulb type. I cannot make my mind up from info on the site referered to in my initial posting .... Image ALSO is Main Beam H9 ?
Thought I would update .... Kit 6000 now all installed, along with upgraded Main Beam, Fog ( Phillips and Osram Nightbreaker )and Side matchinig light Bulbs. The raod has never been that easy to see at night. Beam spread and pattern same as previous. Night can become Day. Image

HID Kit was the 35W Ultimate from HIDS4U, I also upgraded all other front end bulbs to improve performance and better colour match the HID units. I had them professionally installed because I leave the workings of my treasured Porsche to others. They are not the cheapest but seem to have been good investment. .....
