Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I bought a set of used litrnonics for my 996.1 the lighting was very good
Leading evidence: 'Use litrnonics' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend bi-xenon upgrade' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I will normally recommend the bi-Xenon upgrade for Litronics, but you can certainly go the LED route as well.

If I were going to the effort of replacing the harness I would definitely recommend doing the lights at the same time.

There are so many things that could go wrong when replacing the harness through the back door.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone!
When I talk to customers about our headlight harness replacement and ask whether they want to upgrade the projectors as well while everything is apart, I often get the response that their lights "are still very good".
Everything is relative, of course, and that's why I decided to make a side-by side video to show what a tremendous difference it makes in light output. Enjoy!

I will chime in here and say that my upgraded Litronics are a lot brighter than stock. If I were going to the effort of replacing the harness I would definitely recommend doing the lights at the same time.
I bought a set of used litrnonics for my 996.1 the lighting was very good
but after I added the kit from the company Adrian uses my lights are beautifully bright
I did this before Adrian was up and running
after all said it’s worth Adrian taillights doing this in one stop cost was the same and he does good work
Couldnt be happier with my upgraded projectors and harnesses from Adrians.
I replaced one harness by removing the lens but was able to do the second harness replacement without removing the lens. Not fun but doable
You sir, are very brave! There are so many things that could go wrong when replacing the harness through the back door.
Did you leave the blinker and fog light wires in place? They are stuck underneath the insert...
$375 ea for litronics. Honestly after wrecking the 2 in my track accident i really wanted a backup set. If u load it up with your stuff ill swap them out in the off season like i do the wing amd seats.
That's an amazing price if the tub and lens are intact. I've not seen a decent 996.2 light for less than 1200 each!
Let me know when you're ready to send em my way for some lovin!
Ah, OK.
Still a good price though. I have bought 2 sets of 996.1 litronics some years ago with the intent to retrofit them and sell, both for around $1,000 the pair.
Then I got way too busy with orders and they are still collecting dust in my basement lol
By any chance do you know of anyone selling replacement lenses? Mine are pretty crazed and could use replacement. I could have sworn I found a source for lenses a while ago but I'm not having luck now.
As far as I know, neither the 996.1 nor the 996.2 replacement lenses are available. They used to sell some for the 996.1 (Cup car) but they are showing sold out everywhere now.
I have Retrofit Labs mods in my 1999 Cab and 2000 Coup...love the look and much better light than the OE Halogens. I did buy new wiring harnesses from Adrian.
Hi all, I'm considering purchasing the Retrofit Labs for my factory Halogen 996.2, and I can't quite figure out whether I should go bi-LED or bi-Xenon. Any pros or cons for either approach?
Hi there!
I will normally recommend the bi-Xenon upgrade for Litronics, but you can certainly go the LED route as well.
Here are some pros of each:
Bi-Xenon:
Easier installation as all the wiring stays the same.
Re-uses the OEM ballast which are bomb proof and incredibly stable.
This is the most "OEM" upgrade of the two.
LED:
Zero maintenance (projector had integrated LED light source, never replace an expensive HID bulb
LED is the future of automotive lighting; Xenon on its way out.
Instant-on brightness, doesn't require "warm up" like HIDs.
Price of the two kits is almost the same;
In a side-by-side comparison, Retrofitlab has shown that light output between the two is near-identical, as shown with a light meter.
So ultimately it comes down to an individual preference.

I have a set of Adrian's LED conversion headlights (996.1) and can definitely vouch for its performance and Adrian's excellent customer service. I also have a set of 996.1 headlights that I purchased to use while my original headlights were being converted. I was holding on to it as an extra backup set but I may end up selling it as it takes up a lot of space in the garage. It will need Adrian's replacement harnesses as there are insulation flakes that are coming off of it and getting on to the glass. I've had thoughts of converting them to LED myself as a fun project which is another reason I've held on to it.
