Hi I bought my uncles 2006 Porsche Cayman S and I'm looking for an unobtrusive way to connect my iPhone to the factory stereo. It has the Bose speaker package (CDR24) and does not have a CD changer. I've read a bunch of posts on here about the Dension Gateway 500 and was hoping someone could answer a few questions for me. Is the lightning adapter required or can I use a lighting to USB cable to plug it into the USB port on the Gateway? Does the Gateway charge your iPhone when it's connected? Will the Porsche dealership give me a hard time if I have someone else install the device and have them code the CD changer? What does the CD changer code cost? Thanks!

I also have an 06 Cayman S and Bose. I would very much like to convert to a double-DIN head unit and likely replace the amp and speakers. However, I need a good shop for that level of surgery. In the meantime, I spent $17 at Amazon for a Nulaxy Wireless in-Car Bluetooth FM Transmitter Radio Adapter ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018E0I01I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ). It's one of many versions of the Bluetooth FM transmitter. Has an internal mic and extra USB port so can provide BT connection and charge phone. Not the most elegant solution but will work until I can get a full solution.

I considered an FM transmitter and decided to go for a hard wired approach. I want to keep the original look of the car so I don't want to replace the stereo. Adding a touch screen would be amazing though! On an unrelated note in your signature it says you have a Cooper S. I sold mine to buy the Cayman. They are fun little cars!
