Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

35 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Apologies if this is a repost: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/porsche/cayman/88790/...

POST 2Original post

I look forward to hearing if they've gave it more power.

POST 5Original post

If it is, then it's very subtle - I can't see any immediate difference

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The picture quality is not that good, but it looks as if it may have a centre radiator which is likely to be required if turbocharged. More pictures here which clearly show a rollcage. Possibly just fitted to the test mule but who knows. http://www.worldcarfans.com/114093082033/2016-pors... Edited by Trev450 on Wednesday 1st October 12:19

POST 8Original post

Mirrors are nice. If the info on the motors is correct, I would rather buy an Audi TT.

POST 9Original post

I think you'll find the centre radiator is related to PDK. Certainly my Spyder has a central radiator becuase I chose PDK. Not sure if this is same on 981 series.

POST 10Original post

Probably just me but I'd say the rear three quarters shots make it look more like a 987...

POST 11Original post

some info listed in the new Autobild... April 2016 new assistance systems (?) new steering wheels with 918-style driving dynamic selector new infotainment system (PCM 4.0?) optional LED lights optional Head-up-Display (! - wow if true) No mention of engines but clearly there will be a 4-cylinder turbo.

Porsche mechanics are already getting trained on new 4-cylinder engines and the venerable NA flat six engines will not stand a chance against future turbo 4-cylinder engines. Matthias Müller announced 400hp+ from their 4 cylinder engines a while back. The Cayman S desperately needs a sizable power bump with the Golf R, A45, new RS3, M2 in mind. The 981.1 GT4 will most likely be the last 6-cylinder mid-engine Porsche in this price range.

Good lord. When are Porsche going to sort out the ride height?? Car looks like it's on stilts...

My 987 on PASM looked tolerable after adding some 10mm spacers but still not as it should. Audi are guilty of this too of course. Something to do with requirements to fit snow chains, but BMW still seem to manage to strike the right balance.

POST 20Original post

A reason I loved my Audi was it looked good with no gap yes they are OZ wheels on my TTRS, but the SUS is not dropped and they are oem tyre size, thought it sat very well

POST 21Original post

the 987.2 never sat well :-(, it's not even that low on my R which is said to be another 20mm lower

POST 22Original post

Uh huh, that Audi doesn't look to bad tbh, maybe I'm being unfair but I remember the gaps looking gappy on my S3, compared to my 130i on msport where the rear wheels appear to tuck nicely in the arch.... 1st world problems eh?

POST 23Original post

puts me of the F430 lol thought about having one as a toy , but that gap looks stupid and lets face it I am only buying a F430 for looks and to polish anyway lol

The best fun I had in a Porsche recently was a 1969 912; flat everywhere and lovely chassis balance. I wonder if Moosey will sell me his place in the queue? SS7

Same with the 360 for me - looks better in the flesh than photos. I think it's the high rear of the 430 that looks a bit odd on the spider?

POST 27Original post

I don't like the direction Porsche is going with its development bringing in 4 pot turbo's engines and pushing PDK auto's it looks like my manual 987.2 Cayman will be my first and only Porsche...there will be nothing in their future mid engine line-up that I'll buy.

DoubleSix said: Good lord. When are Porsche going to sort out the ride height?? Car looks like it's on stilts... I think the effect is worsened in one of the pictures because the car is cresting a rise at speed, hence lightening it on the suspension increasing the effective ride height for a split second or two when the photo was taken.

POST 34 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Some close up photos here of the GT4. Looks as if it is running MPSC's and they are most definately larger than stock. http://www.motorward.com/2014/11/porsche-cayman-gt...

POST 35Original post

Wheel size and arch gaps is to my mind all a lot of cosmetic flapping about and has very little to do with driving. Mid-engine and rear-engine cars always look like that because there's no weight in the front. If you're that bothered - buy a bag of cement....
