Hi,
I recently purchased the Xtrons headunit to replace my 07 old navigation system.
But, only the small speakers are playing, not the once's that are connected to my ASK amplifier, and yes, i have received the optical unit and this has a red light at the optical
plug
, so this parts seems fine.
Now i have been trying to figure out from several diagrams how the ASK works, and one cable (black/red) coming from the ASK amp, does not seem to be connecting when using the adapter cable, so i wanted to check what type of output it got from the original radio, but i does not seem to be admitting either - or +12v, when i search with my tester, and i search for +12v, the ASK amplifiler stops working, and when i remove my tester from the wire, i turns back on after 1-2 seconds.
So what to do? I don't want to put +12V on it, unless im 100% sure it will not kill the ASK amplifier.
When looking at the Becker diagram for the ISO
plug
, it says that the pin i not in use (Sektion A, Pin 2)
So in conclusion, do not buy this place of crap radio, its not gonna work on a
Porsche
.
I am using an Android Head Unit (likely the same manufacturer as the Xtrons, there are only a few) in my '12 CR without too much issue. That said, I don't have the optical to deal with... May be a translation issue, but sounds like maybe you don't understand the wiring configuration.
I tried to remove the optical cable from the original radio, and the large speakers stilled played just fine, so i tried only to connect the 2 ISO plugs to the original radio (power and speaker connection) and same result, all speakers work just fine. (So im not sure what the optical cable is for)
So when looking at what pins on the power cable (ISO
plug
), there are 4 wires/pins in total:
1. Permanent 12v+
2. Ground
3. ACC 12v+
4. Going to the amplifier (red/Black)
The 4. Wire is not connected to anything in the adapter cable to the Xtrons, so its 100% here the fault is, but i can’t find any documentation on what to feed this wire with, ground or 12v+
Anysways im sending it back, i really don’t what to play engineer with the cars electrical system, even with my 20 years experience with eletronics.
Hi Jesper,
I hope you had a nice break over the Xmas festivities.
Not sure if you have been able to resolve your issues on your
cayman
RE: Activate ASK Amplifier. I have recently installed an Alpine ILX702D and have encountered the same issue as you have described above in your post (ASK not switching "ON").
So, what I did, after reading your post, proceeded to search further and notice that the (Black/Red), which is the ASK accessory circuit (makes the ASK Amplifier to come alive) was not connected to anything after I have used the wiring harness kit supplied with the Alpine radio.
After connecting the ASK Amplifier circuit (Black/Red) to the accessory to new wiring harness supplied, the ASK amplifier came alive.
All I have to do now, I guess, is look for better speakers as the OEM ones are not really great.
I hope this helps.
Hi Jesper, in the event you require the electrical wiring diagram, let me know! Cheers.
