Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
set for sale for about 1600 and a navigation module and amp for 1100.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If I get the
PCM
unit ( #997 642 141 02 ) and install that into the
Cayman
, with reprogramming can I get the Satellite/navigation and phone functions to work?
That's the part I saw onsale online. I think it's from a 997.
Just wondering.
I dont mind having to buy additional bits, if I can get it all to work.
Smounic I do have
Bose
and a CD changer.
Unless you get a great deal on the
pcm
, I probably wouldn't get it by itself. The nav parts are near $2500 from
Suncoast
, and you can get a
PCM
+ Nav used for that if you look around. I haven't found a good resource for the phone or satellite bits used. Let me know if you find one.
The one I saw is selling for around 1700. Dont know if thats good or not. If you have to add 2500 for the other bits, it still comes to less than a new one from factory.
OTOH the
Suncoast
route maybe best (at least I'll get everything I need.
I've seen the
PCM
+ Nav sell for $2500 on ebay on two occasions. You can find the
PCM
for $1200 used if you look around enough and move quickly. The
PCM
+ Nav from
Suncoast
will cost you $3700 or so. Sat is another $1100 or so. Dension will cost you $479. The phone module is somewhere around $1000. All of these costs are without installation.
Suncoast
will do it all, but you are probably looking at quite a bit of cash if you buy it new. My guess would be 20 hours of labor + $6300 in parts. I would guess that it would cost you $8300 or so to retrofit the car.
If you get the
PCM
+Nav used, the telephone and dension new, and do the install yourself, you can trim it down to around $5100
That's helpful.
A seller on ebay has the
PCM
set for sale for about 1600 and a navigation module and amp for 1100.
So if I understand it correctly, this would get me most of what I need to have satellite navigation? And if I needed a phone module that would be an additional expense. Regarding the latter, is that a DIY job?
Sorry to sound like a complete noob. I dont feel I have got my head round the
Porsche
bits like I did the
BMW
ones for my older cars.
Yeah, am having a hard time bringing myself to take that risk.
Wouldnt mind adding
PCM
though.
Question: adding the satellite/phone modules, is that plug and play?
Afridi, they are more or less plug and play but both are very pricey. I think all the phone parts you need retail at about $1,500. There's a phone control module that needs to be installed into the car.
