Suggestion

I cannot imagine where that price came from - a quick look has the price of replacing the clutch on a turbo below £1300 and a new flywheel surely shouldn't take that beyond the realm of £2k...

Fork me I'd need to know when one is ready for changing then, so I could take a pig or 2 to market the week before!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Gentlemen, Can you enlighten me on the issue with the TT flywheels. Why do these need changing and what puts the cost of a clutch and flywheel up to £5000 ? I'm hoping for a TT some day this year and need to understand this issue. Thanks in advance Porsche Brethren :?:

POST 2Original post

I cannot imagine where that price came from - a quick look has the price of replacing the clutch on a turbo below £1300 and a new flywheel surely shouldn't take that beyond the realm of £2k... Have you tried calling up your local independent for a price?

POST 3Original post

Flywheel is around £750... no idea where you got the £5k figure from

POST 4Original post

Huh? £5k?? I just got a flywheel on my TT fitted, was 731... Good idea to them when you are servicing the gearbox or clutch, so it doesn't cost labour As a rule of thumb, a flywheel should last two clutches unless you drive the car with the clutch slipping ( I was doing euro trip, myclutch started to slip in Belgium... ) shock fecks up the flywheel To the far extent of my knowledge there isn't any issues with TT flywheels

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. So I take that the clutch will eventually wear the flywheel away which has no material left for a skim or becomes unusable thin? Is 2 clutches about 50 000 miles? (normal driving ish) Got this price from a dealer selling a TT and claims "clutch and flywheel changed recently at a cost of £4500"(my mistake not £5000). So £2000 for a clutch and flywheel then! Fork me I'd need to know when one is ready for changing then, so I could take a pig or 2 to market the week before! Thought i'd studied the option of Tip to a conclusive "no" :frustrated:
