Hi there,
I was wondering if you could help if possible. I have a Dension Gateway installed and it has all been working flawlessly over the last month, however I just installed the BTA1000 and I am having problems. It by default shows AUX on the PCM and when I goto CD List -> Menu all I get is 3 options: No IPOD: UI, No IPOD:GW, no USB! My IPOD shows charging when connected to the BTA1000 module and I have tried firmware 2.02, 2.03 and 2.05 without any luck! If I remove the BTA module and connect my IPOD directly to the gateway everything fine, any ideas?
Thanks,
Wasim
What if you connect a music pendrive to the GW? Will it always start on the USB, even after you lock the car for some minutes?
I'm asking this, because if your GW is connected to a switched power source (and not permanent 12V as the manual suggests) then it will start on AUX and also the BTA initialization won't be successful.
The other possibility is a HW failure in BTA module or the connector/cable of the BTA module.
The iPod charging is ok, so that wire is ok. It also means that the BTA gets power.
But there's no communication with BTA or iPod, so there is something wrong with the TX/RX wires.
Check the power source first, and then contant your distributor and try an other BTA module.
I took power feeds from the same place K-man S did in his GW500 installation artcile:

I beleive it is the NAV power wire I have tapped into, is this switched I assume? Where woulkd you advise to get a permenant tap from?
I think the NAV/CDC have permanent tap...
I beleive it is. I have returned it to the supplier and will hopefully have a new one coming tomorrow, so I shall let you know how I get on.
Just fitted my replacment unit and it seems the old unit was faulty. Still getting used to using it through the menu system. Noticed it is a bit buggy with the 2.03 firmware. Sometimes when a call comes in, my music mutes and the accept/reject call options comes up but neither works! Will probably upgrade to 2.05 and see how it goes. The quality of the line isn't exceptional, I might try a different microphone such as the Nokia one and I see how it fairs. Can someone tell where Porsche usually locate the microphone for cars with the phone module? The one with the BTA 1000 is huge and I would like to put it somewhere where no one would notice it that much. It is currently at the top of the windscreen next to the interior lights.
Porsche has it in the steering column, but most people complain about the sound with it there.
