Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 2Original post

Thicker than what? and why? In any event I think Synt S isn't a true synthetic but a hydro-cracked synthetic, however, I'm happy to be proved wrong here. Personally I use Silkolene Pro S 5W-40 (in a 993) which is a true ester-based synthetic.

POST 4Original post

Synt S 5W-40 is a Porsche approved oil, so you can't go wrong.

POST 5Original post

Richard, is there a list of approved oils posted anywhere? - would be good to know Ray :bandit:

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Richard, will order some now. cheers peter

POST 7Original post

PCGB had the Dec 2007 list posted - hang on I'll see if I can find it. Porsche should have released a newer one by now.

POST 8Original post

Yes - I uploaded a later version last week on the PCGB forum.

POST 9Original post

Richard - I've looked and I can't find it; is it now in the members-only section?

POST 10Original post

Always has been. Sundeep (or someone) lifted a copy of the Dec 2007 list which is in the FAQ section here.

POST 12Original post

That's the one I use, can't give any long term view as only had the car for a few weeks, but seems initially to be fine. :thumb:
