Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I guess I could have saved even more getting my local garage to fit the parts but I would rather the OPC fit them, have a good look at the new/used cars, nice chat, cup of coffee and pop next door to the Ferrari garage.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have bought OEM front brake discs/pads and Oettle sports exhaust muffers. My local OPC is fitting them and two new coilpack heatshields next week. How many hours labour should it take and the total cost so I can compare it with there quote. Regards, Ian.

POST 2Original post

I would suggest somewhere around 4-5 hours as long as the old silencers come off fairly easily. I had the problem on a 996 where one of the long fixing bolts was put in upside down and proved very difficult to remove. This is because the engine and all ancillaries are assembled before being put into the car so unless the guy assembling it thinks about later work and inserts the bolt from the bottom and the nut on top, you're stuffed. On mine, one was ok and came off in minutes and the other one was wrong and took nearly 2 hours to get off.

POST 3Original post

Ask them to go into the POSES System which gives you the allowed time element by Porsche for each opeartion needed! This will put your mind at rest one way or the other if you are being overcharged or not. Big Bob

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I feel I am having a good deal as the OPC original quote for supplying the parts and fitting came to £1847. By me buying the parts from Germany and the OPC fitting them the total cost is £1078. So a saving of £769. I guess I could have saved even more getting my local garage to fit the parts but I would rather the OPC fit them, have a good look at the new/used cars, nice chat, cup of coffee and pop next door to the Ferrari garage. Ian.

POST 5Original post

I've had dealings with 3 OPCs, @ Bournemouth, Wilmslow, and Sutton Coldfield. All have been very fair and professional, and these days they need you to come back to maintain the viability of the dealership in these hard times. Best Regards Bob Bax

POST 6Original post

To be honest there is nothing complicated in that list at all, indeed you could actually fit the disc/pads yourself and even the muffler, assuming you had a nice warm garage to do it in. Any reputable Indy would do just as good a job as an OPC. Maybe phone an indy, get a quote then go back to your OPC asking for price match...? You're not asking them to diagnose a fault or do anything remotely complicated :thumb:
