This is my first post in this forum, so bear with me. I'm sure someone else has asked this, but...
My wife has a 07 Cayman. No navigation. Is there a way to get an
iPod
to play through the stereo? I don't own an
iPod
yet, but she keeps hinting about it. Less complicated the better. She is literally "Caveman Lawyer" when it comes to this stuff.
Thanks.
Let me be the first to say in the nicest way possible......try using the "search" function. You will find so much info on this and how Porsche has made it so hard to do. Dension is the company that makes a product that tricks your car into thinking it has a cd changer, and uses the cd changer input to get your
ipod
music into the system. The interface isn't all that good (you can't see your songs or playlist) but the quality is what you would expect. Good luck with it all.
The dension will cost you $500 bones. You can find PCMs around for $1000 - $1500 that you can have installed as well. The Dension is *MUCH* more intuitive with
PCM
.
I just used a wired FM modulator that shows the song titles on the dash - the iplug. Im pretty happy with it.
Or you could just do like several of us have and get the AVIC-D3 and have DVD, NAv and
iPod
all in one unit. You can shop around and get the dash kit, harness and unit with
iPod
attachment for $1000. EIther way, good luck:cheers:

Do you have any photo's of the AVIC after fitting?
My
pioneer
dealer tells me that there is no trim plate available, I'd like to see how it looks in your car.
I have ordered my CS with standard sound system & no CD changer, so does anyone know if I will need to fit an AUX amp?
Thanks
I just completed an AVIC-D3 installation in my 07 Cayman, and hope to post a review of it soon. The bottom line is that this is the stereo unit the factory should have installed in the first place. It sounds MUCH better, it's easier to use (no more illegible, tiny buttons), has greatly expanded functionality including highly-accurate navigation, full
iPod
integration, sophisticated equalizer settings, really excellent Bluetooth telephone integration, and, of course, radio and CD. I even have a rear view camera installed in my car, so that when the card is placed into reverse, you can see exactly what's behind the car on the unit's LCD screen -- an important safety feature.
There is a Japanese seller on eBay who sells an installation kit for the Cayman, including a bezel that virtually looks like it came from the factory, and a complete wiring harness that hooks up to the factory wiring.

Does the AVIC-D3 integrate with the Bose system and CD changer? Where do you have your iPod connection?
There's one in Redwood City (where I used to work). Do a search and you'll find the name, very highly recommended by members here.
I have a friend going to the US in a couple of weeks, if he were to buy me an AVIC-D3 (to save me a few ££'s) Would the US model work in the UK? Are all the maps on a seperate DVD? I assume I could just get the UK maps over here? Do you know if the DVD player is region free?
The unit looks great by the way!!
