Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi there, My wife's boxster S is suffering from excessive condensation which seems to be caused by the carpet on the drivers side being quite wet.I have checked the drain holes at both front and rear, and these seem to be fine, as does the door seal which I believe is another culprit for letting in water. Are there any other things I should check before taking it in to the garage? The dampness also feels a bit greasy as if not just water, but not sure. Any help or guidance appreciated.

POST 2Original post

Possibly the door membrane (the one behind the door card).

POST 3Original post

"greasy" feel to the fluid could be coolant. This could be from the heater core. Or it might be possible (?) that a leaking coolant tank is dumping coolant into the cabin space. Regardless you must find the source of the leak and fix it pronto. You must at the same time remove the water/moisture. The car's security control module is located on the floor under one of the seats. (In USA cars it is the right hand seat, the passenger's seat.) Moisture will damage the security control module and cause all kinds of goofy electrical gremlins.

POST 4Original post

Agreed --- the ECU is under the passenger seat on my Cayman and it is a very expensive item to replace --- ignoring the other problems of moisture where it shouldn't be
