Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me? A large puddle has formed in my garage and it appears that my wifes Carrera 2 Cab has sprung a leak. The car is dripping from the front (just right of middle when you face the car) where the nose cone fixes to the car. It appears to be screen-wash as the water foamed when it was swept away. Her car has Litronic lights with headlamp wash but they are working absolutely fine. I thought that maybe a hose had worked loose. Any ideas what it might be? :?

POST 2Original post

I'm afraid that sounds like coolant and probably means one of your radiators has sprung a leak  It is a common problem on the 996 as the radiators attract leaves and other debris which retain water and rot the rads... Check your coolant level asap...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am pretty sure that it is screen-wash. My coolant level is still at max. I also filled up with screen-wash on Sunday and put a litre of water in just now and could have put more in.

POST 4Original post

You have three choices 1. screenwash 2. Coolant - check your reservoir in the engine compartment. If it's not full then be suspicious. If the coolant is red then its the synthetic type. Don't mix synthetic with non synthetic as I was told that it can damage your rubber seals. 3. Aircon lubricant. If your aircon doesn't work, assuming that you have aircon, then this could be your problem. The condenser/condensers could have sprung a leak, so they'll need replacing and your system re-charged! Good luck with your diagnostics :thumb:

POST 5Original post

next time just dab the pool of water with some kitchen roll, smell it then remove the washer res cap and stick your snout in....if it's the same smell you have your answer as screen washer and anti-freeze smell rather different!
