Anyone tried it?
Not much info on the website, so I suspect it's a fairly new company and/or product. I've been putting off the DENSION for a while now, and just playing CD's. Just curious if anyone has info/experience with mObridge...
I just made an website inquiry to them and got this response:
Thanks for contacting us. We obviously think you've stumbled upon the right
solution!
Single CD.
Yes, single-disc CD function is retained.
vs. Dension's product.
Fundamentally I think our product and Dension's offer about the same feature
set though there are significant quality and performance differences, I hear
(to mObridge's advantage). You might search the ******** and Renntech
Cayenne forums as there is growing feedback there, I've been told it's good.
Generally I think we have more memory (promotes faster operation), the
software is more stable, and there are other nuance differences like
competition only supports up to 99 tracks in a playlist/folder whereas we do
not have that limit.
Cayman install.
Installation in Cayman is (optical portion) plug and play then two wires
sourcing a constant B+ power source and ground (which generally does involve
a splice). You can install in the location intended for factory CDC and
plug in there or up front in the passenger kick panel. Based upon your
preference, we can select the appropriate adapter harness for you. There is
also a pair of wires that simply leads to a switch, that we supply, that
switches our unit into "bypass mode" so it doesn't upset the dealer
diagnostic tester -- convenient, so you don't have to uninstall or bypass
the unit manually when taking your vehicle in for service, just flip the
switch.
Availability.
We have just sold out of units from our most recent manufacture, estimated
next availability around 3rd week October.
Price.
I'm assuming this is for individual purpose or are you a retailer/installer?
Our MSRP is $599 for the kit. This is for iPod (any 5G, 4G, Photo, Video,
Nano, Mini, or Touch) and Aux-In.

Wow; $600. Guess I'll stand on the sidelines a little longer, before I jump into the iPod interface game...
Thanks for sharing the response from the company.
I have been exchanging e-mails with a guy by the name of Scott Nelson @ Mobridge / FiberDyne (this is the parent company). He appears to be (one of) the local rep(s) here in SoCal.
He quoted me the following prices:
$499 direct from Mobridge
$599-$699 in audio shops
$899 (est.) installed at you local Porsche dealer
Availability of the unit is in mid-October. Appears to be superior to the Dension kit, yet has the same limitations when it comes to integration with the CDR24 - i.e. CDR24 cannot show playlist / song / artist text.
Will keep everyone posted!
The price is the only thing holding me back from iPod integration. I just can't justify spending $500+ on an adapter when that amount will obtain a great head unit. I'm hoping now that there are two in the game, pricing will change.
It could be a good product, just some thoughts from Dension side:
-The current Dension FW doesn't have any stability issues.
-Of course there 's no any limit on the displayed items in Gateways.
-The big memory is good thing (I don't know how much Mobridge has) but the main limit here is the speed of iPod communication.
mObridge
Hi. This is Scott from mObridge. I know I've talked or exchanged emails with some of you. Thanks for all the interest!
We're very busy getting the U.S. business established and launching mObridge Audio. We have not put out a web store or published official retail pricing yet so any quotes from me are as a courtesy at this point. We'll officially announce the retail price for mObridge Audio at timing of the SEMA show, which starts Tuesday, October 30.
Apologies, too, as I was misquoting one of our staff when I said "99 tracks" regarding another product on the market. I believe that should say "99 folders", but as soon as any of us debate this point, someone will have come out with new software that changes the discussion. :argue:
So don't want to get too commercial on here ... but thanks for all the interest and we're glad to see the proliferation of offerings such as ours and the others mentioned herein that are now starting to address your vehicle integration needs on the MOST bus!
And if you're in Southern California, contact us via the company website and we can set up personalized visits.
Hi mObridge!
Good luck on the market!
That's true, what you say about new SW releases, but I can't remember that kind of limitation even in the first D2B beta releases of GW 500 (1Q/06).
