I managed to get over to the hard shoulder pretty quickly and it appears the only damage is to the tyre, it's protected the wheel but I guess the real test will be when the new tyre is balanced.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My nearside rear decided to give out on my on the A1 last night. The tyre is pretty well shredded but still attached to the wheel. I managed to get over to the hard shoulder pretty quickly and it appears the only damage is to the tyre, it's protected the wheel but I guess the real test will be when the new tyre is balanced. I got recovered home, I wasn't sure of the damage and whether putting the space saver on was worthwhile. This morning I've tried to get the wheel off and it's seized onto the hub, tried some WD40 and a rubber mallet but it's not budging, any tips or advice? Second question, I've last years Porsche warranty and embarrassingly I don't really know whether this covers breakdown/recovery. My priority was to have cover in place for repairs, after an intermediate shaft failure last May. Anyway, the literature I have is a small 3-page booklet and offers little or no information. Does anyone know if this is covered, in which case I may call them to see if they can get the wheel off? Many thanks.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In managing to answering question 2 I'm hopefully closer to a resolution. The RAC or whoever Porsche use are due out imminently, they probably have a bigger hammer than me so hopefully the space saver will be in place very soon.
