This is not a probability of success.

I just installed FEAL coilovers on my 2003 cabriolet, and while watching my best friend, Mike Hidalgo from FCP Euro go through the process of setting up Ohlins for a similar install, he said "Save the washers off of your old shocks because you'll need them when you install your coilovers." That wasn't true for me (the FEALs came assembled), but it left me wondering, 'Should I dismantle my old shocks to save the rare(?) washers or other parts for other Rennlist members to use?' My options are to take the old shocks to the dump (One has blown seals anyway) or dismantle them with a spring compressor and offer them to other 996 owners to make their lives easier?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm not looking to offset the cost of my coilovers, just to make life a little easier for others. Thank you, good people, for reading this (If you view the excellent FCP Euro DIY videos, you'll understand!)

POST 2Original post

If it were me, save all the small expensive spacers/washers/hardware/even strut springs since the oem springs seem to last forever if not corroded. Won't take much room on a shelf in a box/bag. Only toss out the obviously worn out parts. But thats just me, I keep everything thats in decent shape. And its come in handy many times for me and friends... Never know if you might need/want to go back to struts at some point after living with the Feals for a while, or if they wear out eventually... jmo

OK, here's my followup. We got some warmer weather here in the mid-Atlantic, so I rented a spring compressor from Autozone and took all the shocks apart. If anyone needs some stock springs, I've got 'em! I also saved the washers from the tops of the shocks! If I ever go back to stock suspension, I'll need these!
