Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Welp, I got my first speeding ticket after upgrading
headers
and
ecu
tune 😂😭. They also tacked on a fix it ticket. I’d love to hear some suggestions for front plate mounting. I did like the no sho option but there’s doesn’t seem to be any specific option for the 987s. Would the 997 mounts work?
Just get a mount that screws into the tow hook location. Easy to install and no drilling the bumper required.
Search the web, lots of options out there.
I have the EOS tow plate with the lowering bracket so it doesn’t interfere with the sensors. I like it. Moving to Ohio though I will be happy to remove it.

Pretty convoluted plan to avoid a front license plate, no? Also, it's illegal and generally just a d-ck move.
The Pitfalls Of The Montana License Plate Scam
I get asked from time to time about the so-called Montana License Plate Scam: Can you safely register your vehicle in Montana and drive it in your non-Montana home state? There are a couple problems which might crop up if you give it a try.

I have the Rennline tow hook mount. It works fine but I hate the look. I usually keep it in the Frunk. My excuse is that the plate cuts into my cover and I must have forgotten to put it back on when I took the cover off.
I know the original request was for a non-invasive mounting, but I'll throw this out there anyway. I'll call this "minimally invasive" as it only puts two small holes in the black plastic center trim piece. None of the painted bodywork is altered and if you were to pull the plate off, the two 1/8" holes are very discreet and pretty well hidden in the shadows. One would have to go looking pretty closely to even see that they were there at all.
Personally, I find this more attractive than the tow-hook mount.
But, I fully realize this is a personal decision based on what is aesthetically acceptable to each of us. Just offering another option.
I got a fix-it just for parking in San Francisco. You can opt to pay a fine and not fix it — that's actually cheaper than having the dealer install the license plate holder here in the over-priced Silicon Valley. Since I have a 2008 that I intend to keep until death (death of the car or death of the car and me simultaneously, if you know what I mean) I just bought a $10 holder that I liked and screwed it in.
Hilariously, my fix-it ticket listed my car color as "red." (See avatar above.)
I like my
STO N SHO Removable Quick-Release Front License Plate Bracket
mount. You do have to drill the bumper, but only underneath the car where it can't be seen.
I have used the Sto N Sho kit before on a 2016
Mustang
GT - it actually looks very good and works ! The only caveat - at least on the
Mustang
, was occasional scraping on dips in the road (going into driveways etc.) and those annoying cement star stops at the mall and elsewhere. I have to replace the insert once while I had it from it getting misshapen. So as long as you are careful and understanding your ride height, this is a great product. Easy to just pull off for washing or showing at Cars and Coffee etc., then just slide it back in and take off. One other note - you do have to put 4 screws into the undercarriage, out of sight. For the
Mustang
it is all Plastic right there and easy. So take an look there on your ride, before you buy.
A local mod shop in Boston installed a magnetic license plate holder my to front bumper, and my neighbor's 997. It consists of strong magnets glued inside the front bumper cover that attract the outside plate bracket. Works great, no ugly plate showing for daily driving. We just pop on the plates back on when needed for annual safety check in Massachusetts, or if we have to drive to states with more stringent rules (like New York)
We live in San Francisco bay area we keep plate in car. When we park we simply put plate in windshield same for being pulled over get plate in windshield before cop gets to door. so far it has worked.
I have an option and it’s worked pretty good and no holes needed.. use Scotch outdoor dbl faced tape. You’ll have to bend the plate to curve of the bumper, but mine has never ever fell off... Clean the bumper, stick the tape to the back of the plate and stick it on... if you want it off heat it up... no Rez mess
once last summer I peeled it off and re-taped it... don’t laugh, it works
I had a magnetic plate on an MR2, that worked too....
City PD or CHP?. What's the current fine typical cost in Cali? I'm south of you in the Santa Cruz mountains. Not that I have money to spare , but I think I would just keep paying the fines. What happened to the "United" states?
50 different rules/regs for everything. I have several acquaintances, gears heads in law enforcement, when asked none of them, in many years of patrol recall when the front plate assisted in any major "catch"
Late last year I was pulled over in Santa Clara County (Ca) for suspected speeding... was given a warning and a fix-it for no front plate. I got a CHP to sign off for free (local PD wanted $35) on my new Sto-n-Sho plate, and paid the $25 fine by mail. If I didn't get it signed off, the fine would have been $197.
