Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I noticed a sidelight out a couple of weeks ago. Finally got around to changing it and noticed that the other side has now gone. Is this just a coincidence - or did having one out overload the other side - I notice they have seperate fuses so I guess unlikely. Also I read the replacement bulbs were 501's - and that is certainly what you see being given away as side lights on fleabay. But the bosch 501's I have dont have the metal bayonet part at the bottom just the glass bottom edge that slots in with a couple of wires. Have I got the wrong version ? Beyond that the design - and the way you switch out the whole unit seems excellent!

POST 2Original post

Assuming that both bulbs have blown, and not fuses, then this is purely co-incidental. Each bulb has 12volts delivered to it and overloading as you call it cannot happen if one bulb blows. Theoretically you can deliver over voltage to your entire system but that assumes that your voltage regulator has failed - unlikely imho. :judge:

POST 3Original post

I thought 501's were W5W bulbs. Surely you want H6W for your C4S?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Richard, yes now I have the originals out - I can just about read the writing and they are H6W - don't know why, just was sure I'd read they were 501's - lots of ads on fleabay for main beam bulbs with 501's 'thrown in for free'
