Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I do know the last owner constantly used the soft for the last 4 years and as the carpet and overmats are filthy, its quite possible he was unaware of this.

Suggestion

It will be worth checking the seals on the hood, and the various drainage slots that I believe can clog up with crap.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All Recently acquired a 2001 996 cab, hardly used it myself. Decided to have the interior valeted only to find the driver and both rear footwells saturated. Haven't really had too much bad weather where I am and there is no evidence of staining to the interior around the perimeter of the soft-top. I do know the last owner constantly used the soft for the last 4 years and as the carpet and overmats are filthy, its quite possible he was unaware of this. What I have noted inside the car in the vicinity above the foot pedals, is a piece of oval plastic trunking about 3-4 inches wide which runs tranversally and has disconnected. Its very lightweight material and may be heater or fresh air intake. Would welcome any suggestions of the possible causes of this water ingress.

POST 2Original post

Thinking back, people have found that such symptoms occur when the doors fill up with water, and the water spills over into the car footwells. Check if you have water in the doors. Research the forum for the fixes if you have. It will be worth checking the seals on the hood, and the various drainage slots that I believe can clog up with crap. Again I can remember this coming up in the past on this forum. Hopefully a Cab owner can help more. I've not had a Porsche Cab, but experience on other convertibles the seals and drains where the soft top attaches at the rear are favorite places for problems. Similarly the front sealing on the front header can allow water to run down the A pillars and it then tricles its way in to the foot wells. Regards Big Bob

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks BB. I've also just discovered on removing the rear seats that these areas are wet as well. Nightmare.
