Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

So I cut a section out, fitted mesh and reinstalled.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Partially out of lock-down boredom and partly to see if I could feel any improvements, I wanted to try removing the baffle plate on my 987 s. Once it was out it looked useful in terms of keeping dirt and spray out of the aperture (there is a gutter that seems to channel water towards the drain hole). So I cut a section out, fitted mesh and reinstalled. You can see the air intake just behind the mesh. . I am going to leave it for a bit and then decide whether to paint the mesh black or extended it into a complete strip (it is level with the spars but doesn’t look it in this pic)

POST 2Original post

Nice job! I’ve been thinking to do the same and it’s already removed just waiting hole and mesh.

POST 3Original post

Good luck with your version. I used araldite glue to attach the mesh which has held. Next job is to change the throttle body and distribution tube for 3.4 items (bought but waiting for a warmer weekend).
