It'll depend on how clean our car is, options, and maintenance - even if it doesn't get the miles, you still should be changing the oil every year if not more and checking on the other stuff.

Exterior was immaculate, interior was clean but not nearly as clean as yours from those pics.

I have wanted to find a clean low mileage MK1, black on black, or white on black, Turbo wheels and three spoke wheel.

Negotiated and left a deposit on a low mileage 2000 C2 on Ebay pending a thorough PPI with highly recommended shop in Sacramento.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Been on here soaking up knowledge for a couple of years of and on. Negotiated and left a deposit on a low mileage 2000 C2 on Ebay pending a thorough PPI with highly recommended shop in Sacramento. If it doesn't check out, I get my deposit back and walk away a few hundred bucks poorer.
I have wanted to find a clean low mileage MK1, black on black, or white on black, Turbo wheels and three spoke wheel. Preferably with halogens ( I know, I'm odd). I don't really care about any other options.
it has a 10/99 build date but I plan on doing the IMS solution fairly soon.
If I negotiated a better price and the PPI checks out. Why shouldn't I by this?

BTW I know all the IMS, D chuncking and low mileage horror stories and they do not scare me. I am a longtime Ducati enthusiast and do my own wrenching. We thrive on impending doom stories.
Maintenance records?
Here's an updated link for those who don't want to have to edit the one above.

Looks to me like the tailpipes are hanging a bit low. Be sure whomever does the PPI checks the condition of the motor mounts which are likely original and in need of replacement. Not a big ticket item but a negotiation point. Appears to be a very honest car. Best of luck!
Posting key part of original post to assist previous two posters who were two ADD to read the entire thing.
I think it looks like a really nice car and the service records are a definite plus. You are paying a premium for it obviously because it's low mileage. From strictly a reliability perspective, I don't think this has as much value with a 17 year old car. But I don't think you could find a better car for $24k so congrats and I hope it passes PPI. Let us know how it turns out.
Thanks and I do plan to drive the **** out of it. Just curious since you purchased a car in similar years/mileage, what if any issues have cropped up besides normal maintenance?
Pretty much nothing serious. Right out of the gate we did all the fluids, belt, plugs & coils - maybe one or two other minor things. A new set of tires. A few light bulbs. It's actually been pretty trouble free (knock on wood).

That's a beautiful 996 coupe. I would pick that up in a heartbeat if I was looking for a low cost hardtop.
I bought a 99 C2Cab w/ 37k miles back in March of 2016 for $20k. Exterior was immaculate, interior was clean but not nearly as clean as yours from those pics. The only non-stock item my car had was 18" Sport Techno wheels from a 2001-2004 TT; so much wider than stock. I've put almost 6k miles on the car since purchase. List of things I've repaired/replaced:
Sumi tires
New brake rotors
motor mounts
shock stops
a lower control arm
H&R sport springs (voluntary)
rebuilt alternator
alternator to starter cable (preventive)
right rear tailight assembly
frunk & trunk struts
headlight switch
convertible top interior liner repair
convertible top flap motor
convertible top r/l cam guide hooks
new floormats (voluntary)
new double din stereo (voluntary)
Renntech folding tow hook (voluntary)
Frunk/trunk silver latch releases (voluntary)
Frunk latch assembly
new oil (twice now), brake fluid (after HPDE track event), alignment, balance, etc.
All of that has set me back just over $11k so I'm ~$31k in on the car now and I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I track it, autocross it, etc. I drive it hard because I believe that's what it was made for. I could've done a lot of that work myself except I travel often for work and just don't have the time. I'd rather drive the car on the weekends than work on it so I've paid a premium for that luxury. I'm comfortable with the double row IMSB on the 99's so I'm not living in fear. I'm sampling the oil every 3k miles to try and catch something but don't know how effective that is. This is my first Porsche and everyone that asks me about it kinda freaks out about the $11k in repairs & upgrades but I prepared myself for it. I feel better about this car today than if I was looking for a used Porsche of unknown origin/pedigree on a $30k budget.
That's my most recent experience. Let me know if you have questions.
Ron Kain at IPB Autosport. I actually found him off of old recommendations on here. Spoke to him and he seems very knowledgeable and thorough.
I will have the results of the PPI tomorrow morning and will report back on my experience. Up to now its been excellent.
Reassuring to hear that both of you had good experiences with low mile cars. I am a bit concerned since everyone here preferred cars that have higher miles. I know that these cars like to be driven, but for me the lure of a low mile body and interior was too much.
I was not interested in Cabs so I wouldn't be able to tell you what is out there. Im sure there are a few.
Maybe someone else that knows the market will chime in. Mine has 4800 miles on it, sits in the garage and my wife wants me to sell it. I'm not sure if I want to hang on to it until I retire in a few years or sell it.

I'm curious... why do you prefer halogens over HID?
I'm curious... why do you prefer halogens over HID?[/QUOTE]
I like the look of the lamp, the proven technology and simplicity of the halogens. I wanted a 996.1 The litronics headlight in the 996.1 only utilize HID in the low beam and uses a conventional halogen bulb in high beam mode. So when you really want to see and engage your high beam, you will still be using halogen.
I may have gone with them in the 996.2 that uses HID for both lo and high beams.
I just prefer the fried egg styling, .
Well, The PPI checked out and it arrived here last week. I used Angels auto transport and it took a total of 9 days from CA to FL. I'm very happy with my purchase.
Here is a video of the arrival on the enclosed trailer.

Wow, nice find. I paid a bit more for a 19K cab and I don't think it's as nice as yours.
I think $20 - $25K realistically. For $25K, it may sit a while. It'll depend on how clean our car is, options, and maintenance - even if it doesn't get the miles, you still should be changing the oil every year if not more and checking on the other stuff.
We should have just swapped cars, I got mine off the transporter last week, FL to CA. 2000 C2 Cab 44K Miles, Family and Friends price. Will start a thread as soon as I have had a chance to go over the car. Yours does look like a beaut.
Nice catch, but you need to look closer. The real reason it's a jewel and I bought it are the mint condition hardly seen OEM orange side markers. That alone makes it unique and special.
My sarcasm detector is out of batteries.... Is that really a rare feature or am I missing another one of this forums seemingly endless inside jokes? Seems to me there are plenty of those silver/black crests on 3-spoke steering wheels out there...
BUY IT, nice find, hope it works out. I bought a 2000 C2 with 18K miles for $23K last fall and have had a smile on my face ever since. In my opinion there is always a risk but if it checks out buy it and enjoy. I have owned a lot of cars from fiat spiders, 240Z's, BMW's, 71 911T, and a Boxster 986 and this car is by far the most awesome. I'm a big fan of old cars with low miles. Little stuff usually goes wrong (expected) but you get awesome rides at great prices. New Honda Accord or old low mileage 996, not even a question in my mind.
Yet another inside joke, I'm afraid. A while back, someonec had posted a silver-crest air bag for sale, emphasizing its extreme rarity. This was, of course, met with substantial ridicule.
IIRC, the silver crest was standard for the 1999 and 2000 model years. So yes, I'd expect that there are plenty of them out there.
