New trays were easy to fit and new connector was just a bit of a fiddle to get the terminals out and changed over, even with the correct tool.

I did manage to change the xenon lamp and refit the headlight into position but when trying to Re-lock the light into position the tray broke near the securing arm.

I had a new pair of Xenon lamps that I had been planning to fit for some time. So had a few hours to spare last week and decided to change the lights. Funny how the simplest jobs turn to poo quite easily. I took out the first headlamp and found that the tray was damaged at the back and the headlight socket was loose. I did manage to change the xenon lamp and refit the headlight into position but when trying to Re-lock the light into position the tray broke near the securing arm. I had a look at the other Headlight and found the tray in a similar condition. The headlight connector was also damaged. I decided to fit new trays to both sides and a new connector on the passenger side. As the old trays had become brittle I wanted to fit new parts so ordered new trays from my local Porsche Centre. They were a bit more than £100 each with Porsche club discount. The headlight connector is not available on its own from Porsche but I found that the Cayenne uses the same 12 pin connector and these are available at reasonable cost from breakers. New trays were easy to fit and new connector was just a bit of a fiddle to get the terminals out and changed over, even with the correct tool. What a difference now though. The lights slip in nicely and lock easily. It was a bit of an unplanned expense but at least I now know that I should have no further problems for a while and not risk the lights falling out :thumb:
